Had doctor's appointment today and nothing is happening yet, is anyone in the same situation? I was really hoping for something to be happening this time. So anxious to meet our little girl!!!
I have between 5 and 11 days to go and nothing has really progressed in my last 3 appointments.
I have had the induction discussion talk with my OB, so there is a plan in place. I am hoping that after my last day of work next week, my mind will relax and my body will follow, but if not there are medical interventions that will get you there. I knwo that may not be your preference, but there aren't a lot of options out there that are guaranteed to work. I hope that I make it the 11 days and can try a few things over next weekend to help me go naturally.
The women in my family though have ALL had c/s so it look slike I will probably need medical intervention even if labor starts on it's own.
Good luck to you.
PS: my boss swears by doing jumping jacks. If you are physically able...no harm in trying
I'm a FTM, due tomorrow, and at my 39 week appt my cervix was thinning, but still high and no dilation.. I am starting to think I'll be prego FOR.EV.ER!!
I was also high and closed last week. I had a obgyn appt yesterday and Im now 2cm dialated. I have been feeling very cramping lately, all night and this morning. But yes, 2 cm dialated can mean I will be in labor soon or it can mean I can go on like this for weeks...Its hard to tell.
At my 39 week appt., which my doula also attended (just to introduce herself to the Dr.), he came out and said that there is no way my baby is coming vaginally, and the doula pretty much agreed. My uterus is high and tight, no signs of dilation, basically absolutely no signs of anything.
Going by the Bishop score, which comes from examining a few things like that, my score indicates that I am not even favorable for an induction. Since my doctor doesn't like to go past 41 weeks, we are assuming a c-section is inevitable at this point, so I just went ahead and picked my l.o.'s birthday, which will be 6/6/12 (I'm a "numbers" gal, so I like that 6+6=12, easy to remember, not to mention I was born on 3/3), this Wednesday.
While I'm not wild about having a c-section, I figure if the odds are greatest that this is where I'll end up, at least I feel good about having as much control over the situation as possible. I also like the idea of avoiding a potentially long and uncomfortable period (20+ hours) of an unproductive induction.
We are going to check one last time on Monday, but unless things change significantly, we are on for the c/s Wednesday.
With my first, I had no signs of cervical change at 40 weeks, yet a day later, my water broke. I would not schedule a section or induction based on a what-if. Your body can start labor naturally even with no outward signs.
My friend just sent me her birth story the other day, and she said that she was a day 'late' and her doctor told her that her cervix was entirely closed. The doctor even said that it would probably be another couple of weeks! Well, she went into labor the next day You never know!

I'm due Sunday. Had my doctor's appointment today and had my cervix checked. Still high and closed, and the way the doctor said it made me picture a door with chains and padlock I guess I'm too anxious.
I've been exactly the same since week 35 when I had my first cervical check- I am 1 cm dialated, baby low and pressing against my cervix, soft cervix, lots of cramping, and three hours of timable contractions Wednesday night- seems favorable that I should go any time. But I've been checked twice since then and no progress- so I am going to try the tea and EPO and just hope for the best lol.

No worries. You could be 13 hours or 27 days from having your baby. Cervical checks mean absolutely nothing, which is why a lot of people decline them
It is not unusual at all for FTM to not have any progress in the weeks leading up to birth.
