watermelon.....and a rash? what?

So DD had a few tiny pieces of watermelon on Monday and developed a slight rash by Tuesday and a full on rash on her midsection and back by Wednesday. it is very bumpy and itchy. DH took her to the pedi yesterday and he said immediatly it was something she ate. Other than the watermelon, we can't pin point anything she had that was different.

I didn't think watermelon was a highly allergic food but never encountered such an issue previously with DS. Anyone have a problem with watermelon?

Oddly enough, I've broken out from Watermelon before.

It was FANTASTIC so I ate the whole thing (don't judge, lol), and the next day I had hives from my neck to my ankles, and large, flat, red patches on my as well. I've NEVER had a reaction to anything before.... I took some Benedryl (I was at work) and the itching went away.

Ive had Watermelon before, and since, and have been perfectly fine. I chalked it up to something on the OUTSIDE of the Melon, that must have been transferred when cutting it. I now wash the outside of it before cutting it, and no problems since.

Maybe try it one more time to see if that was it... Was it JUST Watermelon, or was it mixed in a fruit salad?

DS got a rash after eating pineapple and after eating strawberries. I just assumed it was a mild allergic reaction. We are going to ask at his 12 month visit and see when we can try reintroducing those foods. Neither DH nor I have any food allergies, so we hope it goes away. Expescially since we love (and eat a lot of) fruit. Good luck, watermelon is delicious! I hope our LOs don't have to have a life without these yummy foods.
