Infertility

new here! hi!

Hi ladies!!

My name is Nicole and my hubby and I are getting ready to start our first IVF cycle - I'm totally freaking out! I've been on the bump app for a while now on my phone, but my husband suggested coming on here since you all can totally relate to what I'm going through.

I'm 27 and hubby is 41, we've been married for a little over 2 years and have been TTC since our honeymoon.

Long story short, I was diagnosed with tubal disease last year and had my left tube taken out. Did 2 rounds of iui and the last one ended in ectopic which led to my right tube being taken out. So IVF it is!

I remember how psycially and emotionally exhausting the iui's were, so I can only imagine how much worse it will be with IVF. Any words of wisdom for a newbie??

Thanks!!!

TTC since February 2010 6 months of clomid 100 mg Hsg January 2011- both tubes blocked Laparascopy April 2011- left tube removed, dr. was able to partially unblock right tube Started first cycle of iui May 2011 - bfn Second cycle of iui November of 2011 - BFP! dx ectopic 3 weeks later. 2 shots of methotrexate. HCG still rose, laparascopy in January 2012 to remove right tube 6 month hold due to methotrexate doses (January-July 2012) First round of IVF - starting in July!

Re: new here! hi!

  • I'm sorry you have to be here, but welcome.

Best advice I got was to take it one day at a time.

At our consult, the info came flying at us fast. Don't be afraid to ask - I asked a ton of questions, even the dumb ones ;). And the ladies here are fabulous and full of information and lots personal experience. Then the box of meds can look pretty intimidating, but you don't use it all at one time. When I started the shots, I would tell myself, I can do this for 10 days - I can do/try anything for 10 days and it's only once a day. After the first one, it's really not that bad.

    Good luck on your cycle!

    Hello, welcome!

Comgrats on beginning your journey on IVF. I just finished my first round and I was scared just like you. Scared mostly of the unknown but I got through it about 6 weeks from beginning to end and it was quite a experience. I would suggest going into with a open mind that anything can happen, good and not so good but just go with it! Keep hope no matter what and stay as positive as possible! You will be surprised on what you can do to get all this medicine done and once you start the shots it's scary at first but you soon realize it is what needs to be done and you just do it.... Yeah you May have some bruises but nothing you can't handle! Trust me the shots are no biggie after the first week... You get used to it in a weird way!

Now I just ended my two week wait and did not have a good outcome but ya know what.... I made it through as tough as it was.... And I'm optimistic that ivf # 2 will work. I still have my hope and positive attitude and no one can take that from me! Good luck.... And have trust In your doctor... Oh and you will get used to all the short term words people use on here. I though I would never figure out what all these girls were talking about using all this weird letter terms but there is a glossary... Use it!  :)

    Good luck!!!

Hi and welcome!  I haven't been through my first round of IVF either but I am starting late June, so we will be cycle buddies.  Personally, I think after the consult the "roadmap" has been easier to understand.  I know what's coming, so my only plan is one day at a time.  Good luck!

Welcome to the board! I hope your IVF cycle goes well for you! This board is a wonderful source of information and support. I also suggest taking one day at a time. It's very easy to start jumping ahead to the what ifs.... Try not to do that to yourself. I read "the infertility survival handbook" before we started IVF and got a lot of good information from it. Good luck!
