TTC After a Loss

Back from Dr and Genetic Testing Results

I had my f/u appointment today, 4 weeks after my d&c.  I had this weird feeling that this pregnancy had been a healthy male and this was confirmed today.  I lost a healthy baby boy. As many have said, there really are no "good" answers.

I am happy that my OB immediately said that she would begin testing me and ordered a whole slew of blood tests.  (Petra- they were exactly the ones you had mentioned yesterday, so it was nice to be prepared for that).  She said she absolutely did not want to wait for a third loss before we took action.  I am incredibly grateful.  They took 12 (!) vials of blood today and should have the results in about a week.  She still believes that we can conceive naturally and carry a baby to term, but also offered a referral to an IF specialist if I wanted, though she agreed that fertility didn't seem to be our issue.  She just allowed for the option that they may have more tests and more experience.  She also cleared us to TTC immediately (I have had an AF since my d&c, though it was short and light), but after talking to DH we agreed to wait on the results of the blood work. If it comes back in time to try this cycle, then we will and if not, we wait until the next one.  In the meantime I will continue charting and begin using OPKs to better understand my cycle.

Thanks again for all the support.

Re: Back from Dr and Genetic Testing Results

  • Sorry for what you are going through.  I'm glad your OB is letting you pursue testing rather than more waiting. The RPL stuff is a ton of blood vials!  My DH needed one vial drawn for his karyotype and he was sort of grumpy about it, and then he had to watch while I had a dozen vials drawn...
