I am 37 wks today and DH left for work for the next 3 wks - he will be 8.5 h away. I am home alone and our family lives far away. We have friends nearby, but they have not been very involved in the pregnancy.
DH will return as soon as I go in labor or 3 wks from now, but I am nervous to go into labor in the middle of the night by myself
Re: full term today, DH leaving for work for 3 wks
I'm sorry your husband is working so far away.
I would be nervous too.
I think you need a plan just in case you do go into labor before he gets home. Have you asked one of your friends if they'd be willing to take you to the hospital? If they aren't able to, I would call a cab company and ask how much it would cost for a ride to your hospital. Then have the money handy just in case.
Also congrats on full term- such a great milestone!
I agree with this! Also, I know it's not the most reassuring thing, but there is always ambulance services if things progress very quickly. My DH works long days and is always about 2 hours out of town. I keep telling myself if I can't get anyone to take me, I will call 911 and that usually reduces my anxiety about the situation a bit!
Thanks, ladies! I will check with my friends. They keep saying "if you need anything let us know", but then when people ask in front of them what am I going to do if I go into labor and DH is not here, they stay mute - which makes me wonder if they really meant what they said.
I have the cab company number on my cell just in case...
