Anyone out there wean their LO off of using a nipple shield and notice they feed for a shorter time? I used to feed from 12-20 minutes when I used the shield. Now by the time she gets to 5 min, she's fussing around and doesn't want to eat more than that. Just worried she may not be getting enough milk when I'm not using the shield since she feeds for a shorter time.
Yes! My little guy used to nurse for over an hour. It cut down to like 40 minutes when we stopped using the shield. It's because they're getting more milk for the same amount of sucking without it. Your LO is probably getting the same amount of milk as before, just more efficiently. You can always have a LC or the pedi weigh her before and after feedings if you want to be sure.
