I got my results late last week and failed. My numbers were 207/173/152. I started to modify my diet over the weekend and I met with a nurse and Dietician today. I got my monitor to test 4 times a day and my diet plan (3 small meals and 3 snacks/day - 2,200 Cals). I've gained 26lbs so far and was advised to only gain 1lb/wk from here on out (was overweight to begin with). I meet again with the nurse in 1 week to see how its going. I tested 1hr after dinner and my number was 109 (should be under 135 1hr after each meal), so I'm praying diet alone works. I am currently mourning the loss of ice cream and mini powdered donuts - my sugar weaknesses with this pregnancy. Oh...and fruit. I was eating TONS of fruit. Now I only get 2 servings per day. (
Tell me it gets easier!
Re: Joining the GD Club :(
I saw your post after! Sounds like we are on the same boat. Let me know what they tell you. I tested after dinner and was at 109, this morning before breakfast was 87 and 1 hr after it was 144. I have to stay under 135. I'm thinking I can't have my reduced sugar jam for breakfast. :-/ Will do eggs tomorrow to see how it goes. PM me too and we can exchange tips!
As for the weight, since I hadn't even gained 1lb/wk I thought I was on track too! It seriously blows. I was told 35lbs gained by the end was on the high end for me. We had so many issues in the beginning that my OB told me she wasn't going to worry about my weight. Especially since my activities are so limited.

It gets easier! I had GD with my twin pregnancy. Ice cream is doable -- either limit the portion size to 1 carb or check out ice cream bars as another option. Also, try sugar free pudding cups to take the edge off that craving. You will get used to the new diet before you know it. You'll learn pretty quickly what foods work for you and what does not. I also found taking 10 minute walks after eating helped keep my numbers in check.
I'm back on the GD diet for this pregnancy as a precaution, even though I passed the early glucose screening. So, I'm already daydreaming about that root beer float I will have after the baby arrives
Thanks for the great tips! I can tell it will get easier.I know the hard part is learning what I can eat and how much. And I'm not really allowed to go on short walks, but my almost 4yr old keeps me active regardless!

I'll definitely report back after my appointment tomorrow and we can compare notes!
