We don't have A/C and in the afternoons it gets pretty hot. I picked up LO after her long nap this afternoon and her back was all sweaty, poor thing! I've been hesitant to use fans with her for some reason...maybe it's some wives-tale type of thing, but I somehow got it in my head that a fan on the baby is not good for respiratory system. Anyone here use fans to cool baby's room? Please explain your setup and usage.
Re: No A/C, fan?
We use a fan. Right now it sits in the doorway to kind of cool the whole upstairs. But we did have it on his dresser for a while to let the cool air in the windows. I don't let it blow directly on him. It hits him a little, but I wouldn't point it at him. The noise also helps him calm down and fall asleep. We also have used the ceiling fan, but that makes me nervous because it wobbles back and forth.
Hopefully it's not a bad thing. We've been using fans for a while now.

We have several fans at night (DD is still in our room). DH has one pointed right on him. We have a ceiling fan over the bed. And a third kind of at the end of the bed. DD gets air from them but none are directly blowing on her. At our baby care class, we were told that fans provide air circulation and help prevent SIDS.
