should my 3 week old (actual age) 38weeks gestational) be having more awake time during the day? she wakes up (or i wake her) to eat and she is awake for about 30 minutes to eat and falls back asleep. should i be keeping her awake more during the day?

If she was still inside your tummy (where she should be at 38 weeks) she would be blissfully sleeping away most of the day....

As far as I know, that sounds normal.  Once my daughter hit around 40 weeks gestational we started noticing longer awake times.  Have you asked your pedi?

My daughter sleeps more during the day.  She is also quieter during the day.  I normally check her Pampers Swaddlers Newborn diapers every 2 to 3 hours, and I change her diaper.  That wakes her up, and she will then make sounds or cry for her bottle at that point. 

I am going to our pediatrician this Friday too for my daughter's 1 month appointment.  We are hoping that she is doing good on gaining weight.

My girls slept all the time until close to when they came home at 3 mo act/40 weeks.

Mine slept all the time until 40 weeks as well.
