Best cream to prevent diaper rashes?

Heard A&D is great and many people still use baby powder (carefully, as not to let baby inhale), but what do you recommend?  And if baby does get a rash, do you use something different?  Thanks!

A few mom's in my area recommended Pinxav diaper cream when DS had diaper rash. I ordered some, and haven't looked back. I would highly recommend it to any mom. I tried Desitin, A&D and didn't care for either. I also really like the Butt Paste organic. Good luck with your search.

  • I like Triple Paste, expensive but it clears up diaper rashes in about a day.

    Desitin works great for us
  • Our NICU pediatrician recommended Triple Paste, as she uses it on her own kids, and it's been amazing! It's expensive and comes in a massive jar but you don't need a lot and it lasts forever. We put some in a ziploc for our diaper bag instead of buying another tube.
  • DS got bad diaper rash right after he was born. It looked so bad it was like holes in his butt. My pedi recommended original neosporin (not the kind with pain reliever) and vaseline on top. Once it heals just vaseline to prevent it. It's cheap and cleared up in a day or two.

  • We use CJs Butter and coconut oil but when A got a rash we reied neosporin and then triple paste.  The triple paste worked almost immediately to clear up the rash.

  • L had a bit of diaper rash last week....in his crack...he was pooing every five seconds last week which I guess is what irritated his skin.  I got the California Baby DiaperRash Wash spray ( calendula) and the CVS brand of Desitin's 40% zinc oxide diaper rash cream...the CVS version doesn't have paraben's in it like the name brands.  It cleared up the next day. For prevention we use the Boudreaux's Butt Paste Organic.

  • To prevent diaper rash I use Aquaphor (similar to vasaline)  works really well to protect from her BF BM.  With my 1st daughter she would get awful rash and would turn into yeast infection because of so many antibiotics she was on for ears and throat, my babysitter recommended milk of magnesia put a little on a cotton ball dab it on the rash and it cleared it up in a day and took the soreness away from it!  Don't put anything else on the rash if you use the milk of mag.  IT was a wonderful discovery with our 1st!
  • We have used both triple paste and Destin in the past both worked well for us. I prefer the Triple Paste but it is hard to find in the stores we have available in our area and in order to get it I would need to travel 30-45 minutes to Babies R Us or Target to get it.
  • Aquaphor Baby works REALLY well. I swear buy it...it prevents and cures diaper rash..and you can use it on your babys skin to fix baby acne and dry skin.
  • Use a thick Zinc-oxide based cream mixed with Maalox for really bad rashes.  This was recommended by our doctor and it worked great!
  • For DD, just a little vasoline is all she ever needs.  On the very rare occasions when she's had any redness at all, a little desitin seems to clear it right up.  I think the premium pampers help a lot.

  • We ended up with good old A&D. Not only has it prevented any diaper rash a liberal dose makes those sticky poops much easier to clean up.
