Breastfeeding

Silly BM question

Hello All!!  I am less than 100 days from delivering my LO and we are planning on BF'ing.  I just have a silly question, but cannot find the info in any of my books that I have (which are few so that could be part of the problem!)   What is BM supposed to smell like fresh?  I have read references to knowing by a smell when its bad, but what is it supposed to smell like, versus bad smelling?

Thanks so much ladies, I have a BF class next week where I am sure I will get a TON of info, but this one has been bugging me!

  • It smells like nothing.  When it's spoiled, you KNOW.

    Mine doesn't have a smell.
  • I don't notice it smelling that much, but I do smell it on my pump stuff and anything else it gets on. It smells like sweet milk. When its spoiled, it smells like any other spoiled milk.
