Babies: 9 - 12 Months

9 month sleep regression?

Anyone's LO go through this?  I've read it can happen between 8-10 mos.  Our son is almost 9 mos and his naps have shortened, and he's started to wake before 6am for the day!  He woke early a lot a couple of months ago, but hasn't in awhile.

Just wondering others experiences with this.

Re: 9 month sleep regression?

  • Our son is having the same problem. He will be 10months in 3 days already! He use to go to bed around 10pm and would wake up at around 7am when we leave for the day. He would only wake up once to feed which was ok... only 5 times has he actually slept all night LOL It's been hectic! Anyways, he just all of a sudden about 2months ago started waking up 2 or 3 times a day to feed. So it totally feels like he's a newborn again and it's getting frustrating.... He has started to get sleepy around 9am and is in bed by that time most of the days so I don't know why one hour has made such a difference for him???

As for his naps during the day, MIL says he only sleeps once in the morning and that usually lasts from 45min to maybe 1.5hrs. And then his next nap will be around 4:30-5pm and wakes up maybe in an hour or 1.5hrs again. His naps for one have gotten better, he used to take longer naps and would sometimes nap 3times before we picked him up.

I'm just hoping for him to sleep through the night! Only having 5 nights since he's been born is not enough for us sleep deprived, full time working parents! LOL

  • I'm right there with you and it started about 2 weeks ago.  My LO has never been the best napper and his night sleep usually had 1 wake up but not before 3-4am.  Now his naps have went from 1-1.5 hr to 45 min and he's waking right at the 45 min mark at night too.  I can't stand the CIO method for us, and besides my LO would just cry until he vomited.  UGH... We got our first tooth last week and I'm pretty sure I see another one right under the gum, so I'm really hoping its teething related.

  • Dd is 9 months next week.  We had just made switch to two naps and was going well until the last week. Back to 45min naps which means 3 naps or she can't make it to her already early 6:30 bedtime.  She is sprouting second tooth and learning to crawl. Every time she wakes she rolls over and tries to crawl in her crib.  I think it will settle once she figures it out. We are trying to just go with it and try to give her lots of floor time

Night sleep is ok. Wakes once around 2/3am and up between 5:30/6 but some of that is her early bed time as she only sleeps 11hrs.
