What are you getting them for Christmas?

Re: If you will have a newborn at Christmas

  • We may or may not have a newborn by Christmas, hopefully we will!  I was thinking about it the other day, but don't know what we'll do.  We didn't get DS very much his first Christmas (he was 2 months old), so I don't think we'd get the baby much either.  Just enough for pictures :)

  • I had 2 xmas's with newborns. i just got them a few small toys (rattles, etc). For my second I also got herr the baby toys that i wished dd1 had.
  • Loading the player...
  • I had DS on Christmas Eve and didn't have anything for him because I was expecting to have him at least a week later.

I'm not sure I'd get a newborn any "gifts" since all the stuff they have is new anyway...

  • My dd's first Christmas she was exactly one month old.  I bought her some things I needed for her like bibs and stuff.  But I wanted to get her something special for her so I bought some very pretty ornaments with her name on them.  I also got her an angel (willow tree) that I have in my case.  Just simple things but something she'll have.

  • I don't want to spend a lot but I want to have some things for her under the tree b/c I thought it would be good for DS to see.  With DS I just put the things that I wanted him to have throughout the year but with DD I already have those things.  I bought her a Whoozit and a rattle but I think that's all.  I am thinking of getting her a doll but not sure what one since all I know is boy stuff.

  • Nora was 2 months old on her first Christmas.  We didn't get her anything.  (Hand the MOTY award over).
  • She was 6 days old and I didn't really buy her anything specifcally for Christmas.  I think some people got her some ornaments for the tree that she'll appreciate later.  And she got lots of clothes and a little rattley soft doll (from Carter's maybe?).  Lots of blankets.

Heck, when my DS was 4 months old, his biggest gift was his convertible carseat.  They just don't need much.  Even this year at one, we're not going to get her a lot...

  • My DS will be 3 months old at Christmas, and I got him some puppets, books, and a Blabla Monkey.  I also just ordered a Yookidoo Discovery Dome - it's something both the baby and toddler can play with together, really cool!  My parents are getting him an exersaucer, and my brother will probably get him a plush ring stacker.  We already have a ton of baby toys from DS #1, but I think both boys will enjoy all these things (except the exersaucer of course, that's really the only thing my toddler can't also enjoy, and the blabla monkey is for DS #2 to have his own stuffed animal since DS #1 sleeps with about 8 already).

And we also have 3 or 4 toys that I received as shower gifts, not sure if I'll wrap them up for Christmas, or just bring them out at other times over the next few months....

  • S was 2 months old at her first Christmas. We didn't get her much, since she was too young to know and our families spoiled her rotten!
  • C was six weeks old for his first Christmas and we didn't get him too much.  In his stocking were pacifiers, books and a stuffed plush from Kay Jewelers (benefits St Jude's Children's Hospital) and we got him some clothes as well as a piggy bank with his name on it from a kiosk at the mall.

  • If you want to wrap stuff for your older child to see- but not waste money on stuff you don't need - buy stuff you need anyhow and wrap it.  Diapers, wipes, etc.
  • She'll get exactly what her brother got-- a baby's first Christmas ornament, and that's it.

DS was 2 weeks old on Christmas, and she'll be 20 days old.
