Pumps

I apologize if this has been discussed a million times!

For those of you that have used pumps or have already purchased....how in the world did you decide which one???

I am going nuts trying to decide which is the best one.  The fact that they are ridiculously expensive isn't making the decision any easier.

TIA!

Re: Pumps

  • We are renting one. It's cheaper in the end for us. Call the hospital and see how much it is to rent one...might be cheaper. I've searched and searched for good prices but I just can't see buying one when I'm going to end up having to toss it after I'm done. I'd rather spend the same or even a little more for something that will be able to be used by someone else afterwards (hospital grades are meant for multiple users.)

  • Have you called your insurance to see if they cover the cost of one? I called mine a couple of days ago and they cover it in full provided I get a script from my doctor and take it to a medical supplier.
  • I guess I don't have babies on the brain because I opened this post thinking you would be talking about high heeled pumps, lol.

Anyways, I agree with pp that you should  check with your insurance company if you haven't already. Mine covers pumps 100% as long as I get it from a medical supplier. I'm going with the Medela Pump In Style because all of my friends and SIL rave about it. My SIL got an Ameda Purely Yours pump and the suction wasn't that great so she ended up borrowing her friend's Medela In Style and said it worked great for her.

  • Thank you all for the good ideas!

Our hospital only rents to NICU moms and low income parents.

I didn't know that some insurance companies covered pumps...I will call tomorrow!!

    Thanks again!

Too funny!!  Since we are on the topic...are you still wearing heels??  I try every once in a while but my feet get HUGE!

I only  wear them to special occasions, like a wedding/shower, etc. My feet get very swollen and really hurt when I wear heels. I'm not an everyday heel wearer outside of pregnancy though so my feet aren't used to them.
