Sleep training question

If I let DD cry it out and she cries for a while but then just starts playing in her crib what do I do? Just let her play until she gets tired again and let her cry again. The 2 times I have attempted to let her cry she does this but I'm at the point now that I have got to get some sleep!

I have read Ferber just looking for suggestions or anyone that has had this problem.

  • My DD spent 4 days in a row "playing" in her crib for 1.5 hours before finally going back to sleep for an hour.  It sucks but it's worth it in the end.  I switched off sleeping in our guest room with DH so each of us at least got some sleep.

  • Put her to bed and then just leave her be to get ehrself all the way to sleep. Mine will sometimes do this same thing. Cry a little when I leave the room then sit there playing with a teething ring then finally go to sleep. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes, sometimes 30 or 45! But we've always just put them to bed after bath and bottle and let them completely be. If they're crying after 10 minutes, we'll go check their diaper, if it's clean, we just say good-night again and leave the room. They always end up asleep on their own.

Ok that's what I figured I would need to do is just let her be. She's very stubborn so I think it's going to be hard in the beginning but I hope it will get her sleeping. She slept good in the beginning and it went down hill when I went back to work.
