I am due in a few weeks and was just interested if the myth is true that second labor are that much faster then the 1st. So how long was labor/delivery with #1 and #2?

Yes definitely for me! I would be ready just in case, I thought for sure baby #2 would be late just like the first.
1st labor - 20+ hours with 3 hours of pushing, arrived at hospital and was about 2-3 cm dilated, had epidural. Was a mess for at least 1 week. DD1 was 1 week late.
2nd labor - about 3-4 hours of intense labor with about 30 min of pushing (had minor contractions for most of day, but thought it was nothing since it wasn't really painful), water broke at home and almost did not get to the hospital in time. It was very hard to leave the house and considered having the baby on the bathroom floor since I literally could not move. Was 8.5 cm when arrived and too late for an epidural. Recovery was a breeze! I was up on my feet that night. DD2 was 1 day early.
#1 was 16 hours from first contraction to delivery, but that includes contractions starting every 10 mins, I don't know if that's considered active labor? It was 9 hours from water breaking and I pushed in the vicinity of 45 mins.
#2 was 7 hours total. We left for the hospital as soon as my water broke, we were brought straight to a room in L&D and he was born 10 mins later, I wasn't even admitted yet.
So far it seems true! I think I am just freaking out because from first contraction to delivery was only 8 hours with LO #1, I got to the hospital and had her 3 hours later, so I am nervous this baby is going to come in 20 mins!

I have had several friends induced with baby #2 for the same reason, their 1st labors were so quick that their dr's were worried they would deliver on the way to the hospital. Talk to your ob and discuss options. I probably should have gone to the hospital much sooner. I started getting off and on contractions around 8am or so, but didn't think anything of it, around 12pm they were feeling slightly more consistent, but not severe or painful. I could have gone to the hospital then. Instead, we didn't leave until 5pm when it was almost too late. So my advice is to go to the hospital at the first sign, just in case!
Definitely true for me! I was induced at 41 weeks with #1. From the time they broke my water (had pitocin 2 hrs after) it was 9 1/2 hours including about an hour and a half of pushing.
With #2 I had minimally painful irregular contractions that started at 6:30am (VERY scattered and irregular-sometimes only 1-2/hr). Then at around 12 started having more frequent, painful contractions (still didn't think I was in labour) had to finally go by ambulance around 1:40pm and got to the hospital fully dilated and she was born 45 min later.
Recovery second time was a breeze! I didn't have time for any pain meds either with #2 as opposed to having an epi with #1. With my second I was up to the shower 2 hours after she was born. Felt 100% better than I did with my first.

1st, water broke & them contractions started & he was born 8hrs later with 45min of pushing
2nd, got induced since I was 4cms & 80% effaced at 39.5wks, I was contracting for 2wks but nothing consistent. Pit was started @ 515am & she was born @ 9:08am with 4 pushes. She was delivering herself basically & would have been born sooner except I had to wait for the dr. My wonderful nurse almost delivered her by herself!
1st~induction began at 10pm with cytotec. At 8:30am I was contracting every 2-3minutes (not very painfully) and was 2-3cm dilated. Broke my water at 8:30 took me 2.5 hours to get to 4cm (darn back labor), got in the tub, and then 45 minutes later I started pushing on the bed...pushed for 13min. baby born at 11:47am. never had any pitocin.
2nd~ scheduled induction at 8am(no pitocin)...broke my water at 8:30am. I was only contracting every 5 min at that time but was 4cm dilated. walked around until 10am when contractions got painful. Got in the tub at 10:40 when i was 5cm, started pushing on the bed at 11:14 and had my baby at 11:16am.
second labor was shorter and the pushing was definitely shorter.
With my son I was induced at 39 weeks due to high BP. My induction started around 10pm & he was born at 2:14pm the next day-roughly 16 hours.I only pushed about 10-20 minutes though because I was waiting on the doctor to come in.
With my daughter, I started having regular contractions at 5pm about 15 minutes apart at 36w4d. Contractions stayed that way for a while, but picked up quickly and by 1am I was calling the doctor and heading to the hospital. I was at the hospital about 30 minutes before she was born at 2:57am. I pushed maybe 3 times before she made her appearance. Less than 10 hours all-together, but really about 4-5 of intense labor.
Not true for me - 1st labor was less than 6 hours from first contraction to delivery. 2nd was around 10 hours total. Pushing was less than 20 minutes with #1 and 5 minutes with #2

Labor with DS was 37 hours and included 4 hours of pushing. Labor with DD was 13 hours and included 45 minutes of pushing. Labor was much easier with her also. With DS I was at the hospital and knew I was in labor by the time I was 4cm. With DD, I wasn't sure I was in labor when I went in, and by the time I got there I was almost 7cm!

DD1: 30 hours from first contraction to delivery - 1.5 hours of pushing
DD2: 1.5 hours from first contraction to delivery - 6 minutes of pushing. Only at the hospital for 15 minutes before DD2 was born. I was not told that I would need to be induced for #3 but I was told to go to the hospital after the first contraction.

DS1: 20.5hrs total, 2.5hrs pushing, vacuum burth
DS2: 7.5hrs total, 10min pushing, popped out like he was covered in butter! Recovery was much quicker too, with zero crotch pain.
1st one was 45.5 hours of active labor followed by 3 hours of pushing.
2nd was 7.5 hours of active labor followed by 1.5 hours of pushing.

1st - 18 hours
2nd - 3 hours 25 minutes
1st one it was 16.5 hours from when my water broke til he was out, and I pushed through 3 contractions.
2nd was 12 hours from when my water broke and he was out in 2 pushes.
With both deliveries my water broke but I didn't contract in my own so I wound up in pitocin.
Recovery was easier with number 2 but the cramps afterward were killer!

It was completely different for me too!

It was about the same for each of my labors/deliveries:
DD#1 - went into labor on due date. 6 hrs of labor, water broke on its own, 3 contractions worth of pushes, and she came.
DS - was induced at 41 weeks. Had to have water broken. Was in labor for about 8 hours. He was born after 3 contractions worth of pushing as well.
DD#2 - was induced at 41 weeks and had to have water broken. In labor for 6-7 hours, 2 pushes and she was born.
DD#3 - went into labor at 38 weeks, 6 days and had to have water broken. 6 hours of labor, 2 pushes and she was born
BF help & support * My Charts
First: 14 hours but had contractions all night for the three nights prior to her birth. Dialated to 5 at the beginning of the 14 hours.
Second: 3.5 hours from first contraction to baby
1st labor 7 hours, 4 hrs spent in hospital 45 minutes pushing
2nd labor 1 and 1/2 hours, 19 minutes in hospital, 11 minutes pushing
They said if I have a third I will have to be induced bc otherwise I will most likely have a unplanned home or car birth.
So in my case very true.
1st labour was 8 hours from start to finish but I had an epi which slowed it down a lot.
2nd labour was 5 hours start to finish, but I had no epi. My first labour would probably have been around 5 hours without the epi as well.
Eleanor Noelle - 18/05/12 Claire Elisabeth - 16/-5/10
1st labor was 26 hours, with almost 4 hours of pushing, a 2nd degree cut, and a vacuum delivery.
2nd labor was 6 hours, 35 minutes of pushing, also a vacuum delivery due to heart decels and she was in an oblique lie. No cuts or tears.
I'm lurking (obviously)
DD1: 30 hours from first contraction to delivery - 1.5 hours of pushing
DD2: 1.5 hours from first contraction to delivery - 6 minutes of pushing. Only at the hospital for 15 minutes before DD2 was born. I was not told that I would need to be induced for #3 but I was told to go to the hospital after the first contraction.
