Vaccine Reaction or just incorrectly administered?

Hi all, I took my baby to get her 2 mo shots a few days ago and a few hrs later she had/developed a big bump/swelling + a bruise the size of a nickel on her thigh (that's the thigh where Pentacel was injected into) and she was crying nonstop like I never heard her do before. Of course we called the doc who said to give her acetaminophen and cold compresses on her leg. thank god she responded to it and things are looking up, bump on leg shrinking. at first im thinking that she had an allergic reaction to the shot, but on second thought im thinking that it could have been that the shot was given incorrectly to her.

Any thoughts?  tips on how to continue caring for her leg?

thanks!

I am an RN and these are all very common reactions. Continue with tylenol if she seems uncomfortable, and do cold compresses or warm washcloths on her leg. Baths help too. Massage the area where they gave the shot from the get go next time, and although it might be a bit tender, it will help rub out some of the soreness. Hope this helps.
