Hello, I will be starting to supplementing formula and have a general question. Can I mix up a bottle before going out and does it have to stay cold? TIA!
Once mixed, formula is good for 24 hours in the fridge or 1 hour at room temp, I believe. What I did when I went out with DS was fill the bottles with the right amount of water and pack the powder separately. I repurposed those 2.5 oz tall tubes for pumping to carry the formula. I'd put the right number of scoops in them, and it was easy to dump in the bottle to prepare when needed. DS had no problem with room temp bottles, but if your LO likes them warm, you could pack a thermos of warm water for mixing.

ETA: you certainly could premix it and take a cooler, but I always thought that was a PITA
I have a formula divider (you can get from target) and I take the formula in that with my bottles that just have water in them. My Daughter is fine with room temp bottles.

This is exactly what we do.

I take water in the bottle and then use another little container with premeasured formula and mix just before I use it. DD is used to room temp water. If you mix the formula beforehand, it's good for 2 hours out of the fridge as long as baby's mouth doesn't come in contact with the bottle. Once they touch it, it's only good for an hour.
