12 d/o projectile vomiting after eating??

The past two mornings, DD has projectile vomited after nursing. She didn't do it throughout the rest of the day yesterday, so not sure how the rest of today will go. She has gas pain all day.  I'm wondering if she might be allergic to my breast milk, or perhaps just not feeling well.  Thoughts??

A lurker popping in here! I certainly wouldnt think she is allergic to your breastmilk. You are more than likely really full in the mornings and your DD is gulping it down and taking in too much, which is why she is spitting up. Another possible culprit is acid reflux, which is very common for babies. Try and keep her sitting up for a while after she eats. If she continues, or does it more frequently throughout the day, then it wouldnt hurt to take her to the Pedi to get his/her 2 cents.

This.had the same issue with ds. Imy milk came in fast and hard. But still ask the pedi.

  • My LO does the exact same thing!  The pediatrician said it's likely because I'm not burping him properly (and yes, I suck at it - it's a work in progress).  The hospital staff also told me it's very very rare for a newborn to be allergic to his mother's breast milk.  So that's not likely to be the problem.

I would try to burp your LO better...personally I'm trying different burping positions to see what works.  I'm also not lying my son down immediately after a feeding, but I'm keeping him upright for about 15 minutes or so if I can to try & minimize the 'spit ups'.  My problem, however, is that sometimes he'll spit up 2 HOURS AFTER I'VE FED HIM!  Therefore, my pediatrician says to watch him over the next couple weeks and if the problem doesn't improve he may have reflux & I might have to bring him in for a stomach u/s.  GL :)
