misbehaving cradle swing ?

So I've come to realize that the Fisher Price cradle swing I bought on CL for a very good deal has some issues... Even when the batteries are good, the music and light/mobile and the sounds have problems. They sometimes won't even work, but if you leave the switch on they will eventually start up, and then stop again! And the music will sometimes sound HORRIBLE like it's trying to play two sounds at once or something...

Well, then the other night LO ended up STTN in his swing (I know it's probably not a good thing) and when he woke us up the swing wasn't moving AT ALL but later we started it and it worked just fine.

Then I was watching him in it and it was gradually slowing down and starting to come to a stop, I think, so maybe it's just the batteries going out? Or maybe I just have a glitchy swing? Or maybe it's going out....I'm not sure what's going on here but I'm not diggin' it lol. It is used and I know it's about 5-years-old, but I think it was only used for her oldest and not her 2nd so it shouldn't be going out I wouldn't think.
