I went to the RE yesterday and was feeling good about things. He gave me a list of supplements to start taking to potentially help my eggs, body, etc. Supposedly, the list he gave me is from CCRM. It was similar to the list wormie shared with me. I bought 4 of the 8 today and still need to buy the other 4. The plan was to do day 3 bloodwork when I get AF (probably in the next few days) and start bcp after the bloodwork to gear up for IVF 5 in July.
Today, Dh had a followup apt at the uro. Prior to apt, Dh did SA and urine test. The Dr said the urine showed no spern in it so that's good. Dh has had numerous SA but never a urine test. However, the SA showed 6 sperm. Wtf? In the past, he's had low count, like a million, but 6?! Freaking 6. Then the dr says dh's bloodwork from when we came at the beginning of April showed low testosterone and high prolactin. No one from the uro called with bloodwork results, so I wrongly assumed they were fine. I should have called. Maybe he just wanted to wait to discuss in person since he knew we had a followup apt. He said given the bloodwork, he wants to put Dh on clomid and see if there's an improvement. They drew more blood today and if the prolactin is still high, he also wants to put him on another med... Can't remember the name. They said they'd call next week to let us know about that. He said they want to check Dh's blood in a month and see if there are any improvements, but can't check SA again for 3 months since it takes that long to see an effect.
I'm so angry. I specifically asked old uro (several years ago) before we moved if anything could help Dh's numbers and they said no, you need IVF with ICSI. At the beginning of April, I asked our new uro if Dh was a candidate for clomid since some ladies mentioned it to me for their Dh's. I told him we wanted to cycle again in July. At the April apt, uro said he wanted to do more testing first before he would just blanketly prescribe it. Given that the reason he prescribed it is because of the 7 week old bloodwork and not really the SA, why the world didn't they call and Dh could have started it sooner?!
Dr. Uro said it was up to us, we could still do IVF 5 in July as planned, but he would recommend giving the clomid 3 months to work first. If Dh's numbers actually improve and we could get pregnant with IUI or on our own, that would be awesome/cheaper. Even if his numbers only improve slightly and ivf is still needed, dr. uro said the quality would be better. But another delay is just annoying. I'm not working right now and Dh and I agreed I'd be a SAHM with the twins. If IVF 5 worked, I was going to continue to stay home. If not, i was going to look for a new job and needed to find one, so we could save up before trying again. This just delays me not having a job... Looks like I need some more projects to keep me busy this summer.
I'm also mad at myself that I didn't immediately set up an apt with a new uro after our loss from IVF 3. Why did I wait until IVF 4 failed? If I had done it after our loss, this 3 month wait wouldn't have been a big deal because we had to take 3 cycles off after our d&c anyway. Ugh.... I need a drink.

Ugh I am so sorry sweetie. My DH had the same low testosterone and high prolactin level problem and clomid def. helped him! (Though I am surprised your DH's dropped down to 6.)
I think I would give the clomid some time to help but I know delays are the worst. huge((hugs)) I hate you have to deal with any of this.

SAIF/PAIF Welcome
Lots of love and luck to my PAIF/3T/IF Veteran ladies, especially my dear friend Zookie. Congrats to Papps, Teach84 and Starbuck on their little ones.
that is beyond frustrating. i don't get why it is so hard to call with freaking results!!
i'm sorry for the delay but i hope the meds really help with dh's #'s and sperm quality. i'm glad you go cleared to do the supplements and i hope they also make a difference.
((HUGS)) when you cycle again you will have both done a lot to improve your chances. and try to not beat yourself up about not seeing uro sooner, we all second guess ourselves in this process but you did the best you could with the info you had at the time.

UGH, i'm so sorry they did not call u! That's crap.
This is one of the reasons im so pro uro. Doing an IVF w 6 sperm is VERY hard. My dh had to produce 3 samples in a 2 hr period and be on the schedule for backup mtese.
The good news, is low T is one of the very few CORRECTABLE reasons for a low count. I would DEF have him try the meds and see if there is an improvement. My dh was not a candidate, bc all of his hormone levels are good.
I'm pissed they just didn't bother telling u, thats total BS!!!!!!!
I would be just as mad. There has definitely been a lack of professionalism by more than 1 RE here. I am so sorry that you and DH have to deal with their bullsh*t. In general, we should be able to expect better care, but even moreso when we are dealing with IF b/c we are so emotionally and financially invested.
On the upside, there is a bit of good news. The clomid might help increase your DHs number, which in turn may help with your next cycle
((hugs))

WTH?! I am pissy for you. Uggh, I hate these delays that could have been avoided. I was in a similar situation with DH so my heart goes out to you. DH goes to Dr. S at Ur of I. He had to take meds for prolactin levels as well. He is taking Dos.tin.ex. and it worked. They also checked his pituitary but thank God that was ok.
