I just ordered my Hypnobabies Home Study Course today and am wondering if anyone has any extra tips to help me get the most out of it. I don't really know what the course consists of but I'm planning on doing it all with my DH so he will be more prepared also. Is there anything I need to know or any advice anyone can give to help us out? TIA!
Re: Hypnobabies Home Study
Im surprised how many people have read this post and not commented on it!
My DH and I are on class 4 of Hypnobabies. We are taking a group class because I felt I needed to go to a class in order to have the accountability to keep up with the program. If you are motivated and do your "Home Play" that's what they call your weekly practice exercises, readings, etc... then you should do fine!
I would recommend joining the "Yahoo!Groups" for Hypnobabies. There is a great support system in that community if you have any questions about your practice, your pregnancy, birth, etc... and there are a few Hypnobabies instructors and doulas that frequently respond to posts
Hope that helps!
I second the yahoo group suggestion.
Also something I've read is to be sure to listen to each track 1 time while doing something else or Skipping the hypnotic suggestions so you consciously hear the suggestions.
The set is very all inclusive and the workbook is divided by week and says what tracks to listen to each week.
Good Luck!
Ignore what ppl say about you not being able to do it. They will say absolutely nothing when you go med-free.
As far as hypnobabies tips.... I would listen to each track as many time as possible. I think about week two or three I has some serious doubt tht the program would work. Just keep listening to the tracks and push negative thoughts out of your head. I would also listen to each track in different positions. You will not be able to sit still during your birthing time so practice on hands and knees, standing, on a birth ball, ect. Once I finished the program I listened to whatever track I was in the mood for. Sometimes I would listen to more than one in a night. Don't worry if you fall asleep. I could hardly ever stay awake.
Just thought I would say as well that I didn't really use the terminology and I read all the birth stories on my BMB and HB still worked wonders for me. Also, DH didn't participate. I didn't really use the hand on the shoulder peace que or the bubble of peace. I did practice the finger drop often and it is amazing.
The best advice I can give is to whole-heartedly believe tht you are %100 capable of having a comfortable, easy birth. Don't doubt it!!!
Oh, and be sure to listen to the birthing time and pushing baby out tracks before labor. I wish I had.
You'll do great. Don't discuss your plans for NB if you don't want to hear from the naysayers.
I had a wonderful hypnobabies experience. My husband was kind of skeptical about the whole thing until he did the partner track. But he didn't really follow along and wanted a less involved part of my labor. It still was fine and I was able to go pain drug free even though I ended up being induced due to being past my due date (ugh) but with low fluids.
Great advice from PPs.
