what was your fav present your 1yo got for birthday

My friend's DD is turning 1 in December so I need to get a birthday present and Christmas present...about $25 for one and $50 for the other.  She already has a lot of the things I can think of - L&L chair, the FP stage.  Right now the only thing I can think of is the Amazing Animals Choo Choo..  I also thought about the Bounce and Spin Zebra but DS did not like it until he was about 1.5 and I complained about it to my friend so I feel weird getting it now.  I need to finish my shopping soon b/c I am stressing about the baby coming and DS' 2nd birthday.

  • The laugh and learn learning home...by far. I think it is over $50 though unless TRU has it on sale.
  • MY DS loved his fp baby grand piano.

  • Actually, most of the things that I put on ds's list for his birthday  (January) and Christmas are all things that he'll like later in the year (ie. age 18 months). We have lots of toys for now and there won't be any occassion where he gets gifts for almost another year since his bday and Christmas are so close together so most of the things I asked for are for use sometime in the next year (ie. sandbox, bounce and spin zebra, popping lawnmower, etc)

  • What I loved that my dd got was a gift certificate to Stride Rite -- my dd could have cared less, but it was great for me since I was just buying good walking shoes.
  • DD has the choo-choo.  It does a lot of neat things but it is hard to get to because the way it is laid out.  DD liked it but it never said the right sound, letter, etc, because you have to sit on it to get to the train station.  Does that make sense?  The train station has a lot of buttons, etc. but when DD would try to get to them, she would have to sit on the track so when she tried to put the lion on the station to make the lion sound, it would be singing the ABCs because DD was stepping on the track...

It's okay, but honestly I was annoyed with it more than anything.  DD liked the animals that came with it but the rest of it didn't entertain her for very long...

HTH and was not just rambling (loving my wine tonight...)  :)

Maybe it's the wine, lol...just kidding.

Oh, and she has the FP piano and the L&L Home which I got my DS before he turned 1 and he still uses it...probably DH and my fav toy he has b/c so worth the money.
