Tell me about polyps

No, it's not me thankfully, but I'm cycling with a friend and the doctor found a polyp during her u/s this morning. What does that mean for her cycle?

Re: Tell me about polyps

  • I had some polyps and fibroids removed during my lap. I think ideally they like to have a "clean slate" as much as possible before you cycle just so something like that won't affect implantation or the embryo/fetus once you're PG. I would imagine whether or not they'll want her to have it removed before she cycles will depend on it's size and location.

Wishing your friend lots of luck - I hope this doesn't cause any issues for her cycle!

  • I've had a few uterine polyps that were found and removed during hysteroscopies. My RE always liked for me to have a hysteroscopy at least once a year before starting an IVF cycle.  Polyps can prevent embryo implantation.
