Multiple Registries

I am a FTM and I so far have started a few registries at Babies R US, Target, and Walmart-- I was wondering if anyone else has more than 1 registry and if so-- are you putting the same items on each one to give your buyers a variety... I'm just trying to see what the best thing is to do before I give everyone all of the registry info.

I have 2 registries and there are different things on each one.  If you put the same things on all of them, you're probably going to get a lot of duplicate items.

With DD we had two (Amazon and BRU).  I did not overlap items.

I'll probably end up doing that too.  I have one on-line registry for cloth diapers and I also plan to register at a few stores too.  I've also tossed this around - if you register for the same things at all the stores it does give them a variety but you may end up with duplicate gifts. 

I'm curious as to what others have to say on this matter - maybe it really depends on who you are inviting and where they would more than likely shop.  I live in a rural area and the closest store is a WalMart, so if I did register at WalMart and then two other stores that were another 30 minutes away - more than likely everyone would go to WalMart so the things I really really needed should be included on that registry.  I guess what I'm really try to say is I don't have a clue either!!

This. I wouldn't overlap, or you'll be running all over town doing returns.

I am registering at 3 places... Target, Babies R Us and my favorite baby boutque Sugar Babies. I was just going to do Target but I had friends tell me that they wouldnt buy me anything from Target that I better register at Babies R Us too. And I am not overlapping any items.

 We are using BRU and Amazon as well. BRU only because it is a store that most people have physical access too and Amazon because it offers more variety for things like cribs and bedding. Most of the regular baby stuff like bottles is on our BRU registry, but our furniture and things that are more personal are on the Amazon registry.

I accidentally put a jumper on both of my registries and sure enough, I got both of them at my shower.

I overlapped a ton of items on our registries with DS - we registered at BRU & at Buy Buy Baby, & since so few of our guests had a BBB nearby, we wanted to make sure the "full" registry was available.  I just did a lot of registry-stalking after the shower invites went out, and if I saw something was purchased at one store, I deleted it from the other registry.  It wasn't a big deal, and I didn't end up with any duplicates.

I did BRU and Target, and only overlapped on the big stuff.  I will be registry stalking a few weeks before the shower and changing things to purchased when I see an item come off of one.

We've already registered at Target. We are going to Babies R Us and Buy Buy Baby tomorrow to also register. I think it's fine to have multiple places to give people options, but I wouldn't put the same things on each one... unless it's an item you want more than one of (ex. baby lotion, crib sheets, etc.).

Thanks everyone for the responses-- I guess I wanted to know mainly because I am having 2 baby showers-- 1 back home in Louisiana where the main store is Walmart and most likely not many back home will order online because of the shipping... then my co-workers here in Texas are going to give me a baby shower and they have acess to all of the stores that I want to register for... so I guess I will go in and modify the registries because I don't want duplicates.
