Gymboree vs. The Little Gym

Is one better then the other?  I'd like to join one with DD for the summer.  The Little Gym is closer but I've heard amazing about Gymboree.

Re: Gymboree vs. The Little Gym

  • I really think it depends on your location.  All my friends in different areas raved and raved about Gymboree and ours isn't that great.

  • I loved our Little Gym instructor, and wasn't impressed with her sub when she was sick one week.  I think it probably varies that much and that easily.  I would go with recommendations from people in your specific location.

  • Thanks, we'll probably try The Little Gym because it's like 5 minutes away versus about 40 for Gymboree...

You should be able to do a free trial class at both actually.  I love The Little Gym.  I took the little boy I nanny for years and now am taking my daughter.  Gymboree is running a special now though, so I'm thinking of going for a month in the summer for their music classes.

  • I love, love, love Gymboree, but I promise if there was something only 5 minutes from me, I'd definitely go that route.  Driving a fair distance to get a 1 year old to a class at a specified time (that often falls around nap time) can be difficult.

This. We take LO to Gymboree because it's closer to us than The Little Gym. However, they've had some teachers leave and I haven't been too happy with the new teachers that are in training. In the fall, we're thinking about trying out The Little Gym (which is only 10 minutes further) or Music Together (which is closer than both places).

  • Most people in my area do LIttle Gym.  There is only one Gymboree in our city though (I believe) and there are several Little Gyms.
  • It must depend on the area. There is a fantastic Music Together program in my area. The instructor is awesome! I have tried the Gymboree Play and Learn 3 class (10-16 month olds) and it's a good class, but the music class at the same facility is horrible.
