Bedtime and wakeup?

Just wondering what time everyones kiddos are going to bed and waking up.  Do they nap too?  I feel like the meanest mommy bringing my girls in from friends at 730 to start the bedtime procedure but A) after they are in bed is the only me time I get (and hubby's not here either) and B) over the summer, a lot of our activities start at 10 so earlier bedtimes mean they get up before 9 and we stand a 50% chance of being on time.

Re: Bedtime and wakeup?

  • DS goes to school 3 times a week. On those days I don't nap him and he goes to bed around 8pm- 7am for school. On the napping days he naps at around 1:30 for 3 hours and goes to bed around 9:30pm and wakes around 8am.

  • He was sleeping 7:30-7, but now he gets up earlier every couple of days.  We are at about 6:20 at this point along with waking up a couple of times in the night.  Not sure what is going on with him.  He hasn't napped until just after he turned 2 though.

Both kids are in bed by 8:00.  DD does not take a nap and wakes up between 6:30 and 7:00 am.  DS sometimes takes a nap and wakes up between 6:30 and 7:30.

  • My four year old goes to bed around 9 or 9:30p and wakes up between 7:30a and 8a for school.

ETA, sounds like you are having some difficulties getting out the door in the morning. I also have two kids and know how frantic mornings can be. Maybe you can look at your morning routine and find ways to fine tune it? All I need is 30 minutes to get my 4 and 2 year old up, dressed, fed, packed for school and out the door. I keep a schedule in the morning to get us out the door on time.

Not much napping in this house. Sometimes the 2.5 yr old will crash during the day. Everyone is in bed between 7:30-7:45pm and they typically wake up around 7. Usually no later ; ) To get out of the house on time, their clothes have to be picked out the night before and we follow the same routine every morning. We are usualy ready a few minutes before the bus comes. I will definitely be more flexible over the summer though, but that would be my dream for them to sleep that late. Over the summer we are tyically ready to leave to house by 9:30 ; )

  • my 4 yo is in bed by 8pm but usually falls asleep around 9pm.  She wakes up on her own between 6-6:30am.  At school she takes 1 hour nap but she doesnt do naps at home on weekends.

  • DD just turned 5. No naps. Bedtime is 8 p.m. - I start the bedtime routine around 7:15 p.m. She wakes up between 6 and 7:30 a.m., but I generally make her stay in her room until 6:30.

  • My kids are 3 and nearly 5.

Bedtime routine starts as early as 7pm.  I like them in bed by 8.

They get up at 7am generally and DS1 catches the bus to JK at 7:59am.

Sleep is one of the most important things, IMO, for a kid that age.

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
  • Bed at 8; wake up @ 7ish; 2 hour nap most days

I'd like to have her in bed closer to 7:30, but it just doesn't happen most days.

  • My DS is 5 and dropped his nap at age 3 even though he is in daycare and they have a 2 hour naptime, he doesn't sleep.

So bedtime is 7:30pm because he needs some settle down time so he is almost always asleep by 8pm.

He generally wakes up on his own between 6:30am and 7am.

I have always followed my girls lead when it comes to bedtime and they are more like me and get tired early and wake up early.  During the week with school/summer programs, they are in bed between 7 and 7:30 and wake up at around 6-6:15.  On the weekends, we more or less do the same bedtime but if we are out or doing stuff, we don't stress about it.  Some weekend nights, it might be 8 or 8:30 but more often, bedtime is at around 7:30.  The girls have to stay in their rooms until 7:15 (we have clocks that turn green and are working on telling time).  My little one sometimes sleeps until 8 but it is rare that my older DD sleeps past 7.  I am sure we will start having later week nights now that my kids are getting older - DD#1 turns 6 in a few weeks and my little one is 4.  Older DD has not napped in a year + and younger DD still naps most days but for only 30-60 mins and not always.  She will sometimes nap longer on the weekends when at home but we wake her unless we know she needs it to catch up.  They always have quiet time as we all can use the down time.

  • DD wakes up at 6:30 am during the week, takes a 2 hour nap and goes to bed at 9pm.

On the weekend, she wakes up about 8ish, takes a 2-3 hour nap and goes to bed around 9-10.

  • Both kids go to bed around 7:30 (although it's pushing 8 now that it's so light outside in the evening) and are up around 6:30. 7 is the very latest I ever get (weekday, weekend, etc.). During the school year, I get them up at 6:45 to get out of the house at 8 (my kids like to take their time in the AM).

DS no longer naps (and hasn't really regularly napped for nearly a year now).
