this is me too. For some reason the physical stuff never bothered me, but I hate being at the bottom end of these verbal polls! I have caught her saying keee for kitty like jcsumm said, but not enough that I'm still sure it counts.

LO had has 1 yr well visit with the new doc yesterday. She made me feel like I should worry b/c at this age they should say 3 words in addition to mama and dada. She kept asking me "so all he says is mama and dada" and I kept telling her yes but he understand more words. For example if you say bye bye he waves even if you dont.
I hate these general development guidelines.

Our pedi didn't give an amount of words he should be saying, but said as long as he's communicating (babbling, pointing/gesturing, grunting, speaking words) then he's on track.

I put other. The other day she was eating, and when she saw the cat she said "ki-ee" (kitty) plain as day and then waved. She's said it one other time, but not consistently. SHe also does not consistently say "mama" or "dada" with meaning either, although she'll point to us if someone says "where's mama or daddy?"
I'm kinda getting worried, especially because she's still not walking (although she took 5 steps towards me today!! WHOOOO!!!!). She's like consistently either way ahead or way behind. My baby just likes to do her own thing, I guess.
LOs on avg. start walking at 13 months. Don't fret just yet! Also, if kids are developing a specific skill others fall to the wayside for a while, then they move on to the next.

I said that he says mama and dada (and just dad), but it's not consistent. He also says "no" and "duh" "doh" means some variation of down, dog and door. It also means "I want that" b/c he says "duh" everytime he's reaching for something. So..not a whole lot here yet, especially not recognizable.
We had DD evaluated for speech and PT (which she qualified for). She was not babbling at all. The service coordinator came on Tuesday to meet her, me, and do our financial meeting and that was when she decided it was time to babble, lol. I'm just happy she's doing it, lol.
And every time I say "mamamama" she counters with "dadadada" DH loves it.
LO just started saying mama and dada with meaning (I think) but nothing else. This is the first milestone that I would consider him somewhat behind...for everything else he's been ahead. Not gonna lie, I don't like it very much!! haha.
Hmmm this just inspired me to take inventory! She says mama, dada, ki-ee (for) kitty, weee for chewie (the dog), Chi for Chica (on sprout), hi, bye, ees, for her sister Isa and ha for her bro Javi. Oh and baba!

I voted other. He does not say mama or dada but he does say ball. any time we pass a ball in the store he says it so I have to buy him it. He has even pointed at the moon and said ball. lol other than that lots of babbling
My LO talks a lot and says a lot of words. its funny bc she was always behind with the physical stuff, like rolling over and crawling etc.
She currently says: mama, dada, no, dog, down, done, up, out, pete, baba, boo(for book) bye, hi, ava (her cousin) --thats what i can remember for now. oh she also say more.
I guess from the beginning i would just talk with her and enunciate (sp?) my words over and over. Claire has always paid attention to faces and mouths when you talk to her, she is very interactive that way. I assume thats why she is so verbal vs physical.

I think DD only says mama with meaning, though she'll point to "dada" if you ask her where he is (but she says dada for everything).
She was a late babbler, so I wouldn't be that surprised if it took her a little longer to talk, too. But she babbles all the time, so I'm not worried!
Still not even babbling here yet. Grunting, squealing, laughing, giggling, screaming. That's it.
