Jogging stroller question

I need exercise! And if I'm going to accomplish this, I'm going to have to take the LO with me. Therefore, I'm looking into the possibility of investing in a good jogging stroller so we can start pounding the pavement together. The problem is that the sidewalks in our neighborhood are really crappy. There are tons of big lumps and bumps and cracks and holes. I'm just wondering...would a good jogging stroller be able to handle the beating or would I still have to go to the park to keep from shaking/bouncing E too much?

Re: Jogging stroller question

  • a good jogging stroller should be able to take the bumps--you need a stroller with inflatable tires, not plastic.  we have a single Schwinn and a double BOB and they do great--hardly feel any bumps.

  • Honestly unless you expect her nap she will probably get a kick out of the bouncing and shaking.  (as long as you can jog with out tripping on all the bumps)

I used to Rollerblade with Audrey in  a jogging stroller.  For her the faster the bumpier the better.  She loved it.

I have a bike trailer for Violet and she is getting kick out of it and we can get going pretty fast.

  • Now that our babies are older and have mastered head control, a good jogging stroller should be able to absorb the shock of bumps without jostling the baby too much.  Jog away!

  • Our jogger handles rooty forrest paths with no problem. I think A likes it bumpy as well - he laughs if it gets shaky! If you look for a reasonably priced jogger, I can recommend the Baby Trend Expedition - it is awesome. Just don't forget to fix the front wheel when you are running!

This. DD loves the rough and tumble when we go through the woodsy area near our house. In fact, it lulls her to sleep. I use a Baby Trend Expedition as well. BOB is the best but was too pricey for me when I only really needed the jogging stroller for walks around the woodsy areas.

  • I bought one when DS was 5 1/2 months - a big 5 1/2 months (19lbs).  I just couldn't shell out the cash for the BOB which everyone swears is the best.  Since I'm not a marathon-er but more of a 5K-er, I opted for the less expensive but fairly comparable Joovy 360.  It has a fixed and swivel wheel option, large storage area, and comes with a tire pump, parent organizer and rain shield.  Can't beat all that for the price, under $250 on Amazon.

We have the Baby Trend stroller too and we love it! You can take that stroller over any terrain...gravel roads, 6 inches of snow, soaked lawns...it can handle it all!

  • Great! I was afraid she might get shaken baby syndrome from all the bumps and jostles, but I guess I was just being paranoid (as usual).

We have the Joovey too and after doing some research thought it was a better stroller than the Bob. The fact that it was cheaper too was the added bonus for us.

  • I have the Bob and love it!  It defintely absorbs the shocks on the bumpy sidewalks, and it is just so easy to run with!  I am doing a 5K next weekend with it.

  • Hi Doc..;)

I came across your post and wanted to let you know what we had.  Our jogging stroller was the Jeep Overland which worked very well.

Most strollers of this type will have some bulk so it would be tough to get around that but we were happy.

I ended up researching quite a few strollers over time so I created a website to give some of the info out to anyone who is interested.

Hope you find something that works for you..;)

In choosing a jogging stroller, you might want to consider suspension (to absorb shocking/bumpy movement), safety straps, propped and sufficiently padded seat for your LO safety and comfort. Fyi, a baby should at least have a stable neck control before s/he is put in a jogging stroller for a ride. Here's the link in case you need to know further reviews and description about jogging stroller: https://jogging-stroller-reviews.net/

Personally, though a jogging stroller comes in complete features to protect your LO, I really think there's nothing wrong to pick a smother and  even path/track (if possible). Smile

    Either that or spam...

  • Checked out the profile...yep, spam.
  • The BOB! We love ours! The wheels are smooth ad work great on trails or roads. The cover is so big, if it rains he is covered and it reclines practically flat. Love. Love. Love. Worth the $$. If you get one, I highly recommend ordering a BOB cup holder with it.
