The first time I saw the trailers for this movie, I knew it was something I could not handle now, if ever. I assumed it was another silly romantic comedy where couples have babies and everything goes perfectly and they all love each other even more in the end. I assumed the only bad parts would be pregnancy discomfort, painful childbirth, and the massive changes to their lives that babies cause. I was repulsed by the idea that the media is spreading lies that this is what life is actually like.
Then I heard that there is a second tri miscarriage in it. Wha??!! Could they actually give a depiction of what the real world is like? Depending on how this is written and how the characters handle it, I may want to see this now. I'm always desperately looking for us (the unlucky 25%) to be properly represented in the media.
So, anybody see it and want to review it for me?

So I don't think I'm up to watching that movie these days, but I was also happy that they depicted a miscarriage. However, I also heard that the couple who miscarry in the movie are the one couple who haven't planned the pregnancy and are initially ambivalent about the pregnancy They eventually get excited about things, and then feel sad about the m/c. I completely understand that situation IRL would be tragic, but I still wonder at the subtext in the movie. Why did they make the one unplanned pg the one that miscarried? Like suggesting it just "wasn't meant to be" or timing was just wrong somehow. I don't know. I haven't seen it, like I said, so I'd be curious I anyone who saw thinks my reading of the plot outline makes sense.

THAT is a very valid point. My first loss was a CP when I was 22, when DH and I weren't trying and a pregnancy and baby would have been VERY difficult for us. I struggled with feelings of "it wasn't meant to be" for a long time. It does bother me that the writers chose to make that happen to that couple. It's like they're trying to make is okay, or they're trying to protect the audience. Thank you so much for telling me this! This is why I turn to TTCAL with this stuff, only you ladies understand.
That is intriguing. Would you mind sending me a PM after you see it and telling me everything? I don't care about it being spoiled, I want to know! Thanks, don't worry about it if you forget.
Sure. When I post the review (if no one beats me to it), just tell me again that you want to know the details and I'll PM you.

Could have written this myself. In fact I read these responses to see if anyone called this out. I thought maybe I was being cynical, but if I'm not the only one who had this thought process, maybe not.

This is true, but I think it was handled well. I had no idea that miscarriage was going to be depicted in the movie but I'm glad it was. Having been there, it was hard to watch and I did cry, but I think they depicted it accurately-the couple does a good job of depicting how devastating the whole thing is (even though it was an unplanned pregnancy).
There is also a couple that does struggle IF and a couple that tried for two years to get pg, so I think it paints the whole picture of what people go through to get pg (there is also an annoying FH).
