Babies: 9 - 12 Months

nighttime feedings?

My 10 mos. old still gets up once a night to eat on most evenings. Anyone else still doing 1 feeding? We try to wait a bit to see if he goes back to sleep but he usually needs it bc he will drink about 5 oz.

My DD is about a month younger than your LO, but she still gets a night feed. She'll take 5-8oz, so I know she needs it. The pedi had no concerns about it.

  • Yes.  DS wakes up between 3:30 and 4:30 to nurse.  He's been diagnosed with poor weight gain, so I don't know when he'll give up that feeding. He needs those calories and seems to take in quite a bit. Mama is tired fo sho.

  • Lo wakes up once every night around 2am, but we dont feed him. We stopped that few months ago, he dont need it as long as he is eating well during the day.

  • i guess its not really a night feed more like an early morning feed? idk but he wakes up at 5:30 every morning for a bottle and then goes back to sleep until 7:30ish. I don't know what to do about it because he has been sleeping since 8pm so I figure he is hungry but I just wish he would sleep that extra 1 +. I guess once he stops taking a liking to formula he will stop waking or I will have to do a gradual decrease. anyways I'm just going to wait and see what happens once he starts drinking more cow's milk

This is what LO just started doing.  Up until about a month ago, she was waking around 2:00-3:00 for a bottle.  I am sure this is going to be a phase too once she starts eating more and drinking less formula.  Just a little longer...at least that's what I keep telling myself.

  • My LO is almost a year. She still wakes up once at night on most nights to nurse. These last 2 weeks she has STTN the majority of the nights though, since her teeth that were really bothering her finally came in.

  • We are at almost 10 months and get up once a night.  It would be nice to sleep all night, but I think once a night is pretty good too.  I wonder too when it will stop, but she is happy once she eats so why rock the boat right?

I agree.  If she needs food at this age, she needs food.  If you let her CIO (never hurts to try if you're comfotable, I think) she MAY fall asleep only to wake up 20-30 minutes later, still hungry and in a crying fit.  That was our experience. DD has needed night time feedings agin for the past six weeks.  She was STTN from 6 months until 9 months.

We just started feeding DD when we go to bed.  She's usually asleep for 2-3 hours before we go to bed.  I give her 6 oz.  (Knock on wood....) she's been eating well in her sleep and not waking up until 6ish each morning with these late night feedings. All of my more experienced mom friends say she'll eventually drop this feeding; that I should try weaning her off of it soon and see what happens.  You may want to try something like this too.

    Good LUck!

  • Yup, my baby is almost 10mos too and he is still waking up... about 2 times every night!!! I do try and see if that's what he really want and let him cry for about 5ish minutes... and most of the time it doesn't work. He usually eats about 8oz during the day, but at night he is satisfied with about 4oz per feeding, and sometimes he doesn't even finish it then! We have tried giving him his binky to see if what he needs is the comfort of just suckling but he wont have it LOL
