I have another question.
When the doctor looked at it she said it was fine, but I'm pretty sure it had some discoloration. Now when I look I can really notice the discoloration along the bottom, it's a little darker- kind of brownish/reddish. Just on the bottom part of it, where it doesn't poke out as much. Does your baby have any discoloration too and is that normal?? I seems like it might have gotten a little bigger, too.. Not sure if my eyes are playing tricks on me.
Re: Those with babies who have umbilical hernias
My son had an umbilical hernia until he was about 6 months old. It was bluish and about the size of a ping pong ball. I assume that was the color of the guts beneath the skin.
Anyway, it closed up on its own - no silver dollars or surgery necessary.
