C-sections

Excercise after c-section

I am 12 days post c-section and have been feeling really good the whole time. Last night I went for my first walk outside the house and just walked around the block. I don't want to push it, but want to keep moving.  What did you do and how much are we to do after a c-section?

I started walking around the neighborhood at 1 1/2wks pp with both my boys. Each day I'd walk a little further.  I didn't get cleared for true exercise like running, boot camp etc until 6wks pp.

  • I'm 5 weeks out and I take it easy. I worked out, not hard, but did more and I was very sore after. It's major surgery. Take it easy. Walking is good. Just don't overwork yourself. I lift weights to work out my arms and I walk carrying the baby. Other than that, I don't do much yet.

  • I was only allowed to do walking for 8 weeks. I tried to do a lot of walking.......nothing crazy though.

  • Start small for sure. I get swollen when I over do it so I know to back off next time. even just walking 3 miles 1 month pp made me very swollen. I'm getting to where I can do more and more but it is taking a lot longer than I thought it would.

B/T 1-2 weeks I started walking every day. A little further each time. I didn't start doing anything lifting or sit ups or anything like that until after my 6 w pp check up.

  • I had 2 c-sections and with both I felt great, left the hospital after 2 nights with the first and after only 1 night with the second. I was in no real pain a little discomfort but that was to be expected, I was really careful to not overdo it so I wouldn't somehow injure myself. I did tons of walking but held off on exercise until 6 weeks when I got the clear from my doctor.

Walk as much as you feel comfortable with, don't overdo it the last thing you want to do is hurt yourself.

I started running after 6 weeks and was in good enough shape to do a half marathon after 4 months - go with what your body is telling you.
