Pregnant after a Loss

Sitting here in tears

I've lost all of my symptoms, I have no real growth, and all of my BMB girls are posting "bumps" and I have none.  I'm only 10w3d.  This is exactly when I lost all of my symptoms last time, and I just looked back at my calendar... we didn't discover the loss until 13w3d... but I'm convinced it's gone now.

I don't really know what I'm looking for here, but I just feel empty and like I want to throw up.

Re: Sitting here in tears

  • I'm sure everything is fine.  I had days where I've had no symptoms and then the next day they come back full force.  FWIW, I didn't have a bump with my DD until 18 weeks and that was only if you saw me naked-it was not visible in clothes.

If you are really worried, can you call your doctor and ask for a doppler check to ease your mind?

  • Every single one of my symptoms disappeared at ten weeks! Overnight I felt totally fine, like I wasn't even pregnant. I didn't even have a bloat bump to show off! *hugs* I sincerely, sincerely hope everything is just fine.

(((hugs))) I was just going to post how I am not feeling symptoms much either this week. I have been googling & from what I have read in some women symptoms start to fade weeks 10-12. I know it is hard not to compare but everyone is different, maybe give the Dr a call and they can set up an appt with you to check everything. Hang in there!

  • I am so sorry you are having a rough time.  I completely understand the worry.  I had a missed m/c at 11w, although the baby had passed at 7w.  I still had symptoms (in fact I didn't even get symptoms until after the baby passed).  Also, it is not abnormal for symptoms to take a hike at this point.

Symptoms are not a sign of a healthy pg, just as lack of symptoms are not.  With DS I had no symptoms at all in first tri other than missed periods.  I didn't really gain any weight til the 1/2 way point and had no bump til at least 16w.  10w is a little early to be expecting a bump.  I'm 12.5w and barely have anything noticeable.  I'm still wearing my regular clothes, without even a belly band most days.

I know it's hard, but try not to worry.  Can you call your doc to see if you can get in for a quick doppler check or u/s?  I know that often at 10w they can't find a hb with a doppler, but my doc was able to find this los hb with her doppler at 10w.  If you can't get to the doc, can you call a private clinic and get one of their quick u/s for $40.  Might give you peace of mind.

Hang in there. T&P and ((HUGS)) for you.

This exactly! I'm sorry you're feeling so scared. I didn't have a bump until at least 18w and even then it was small. If you're feeling really worried, call your Dr and see if they can get you in for a doppler check.

  • Call your Dr and see if you can go in for a u/s to give you some sanity. I'm sorry your feeling this way but sometimes not having symptoms isnt bad. I'm hit and miss. It varies on the day. I hadnt thrown up in a few days then back this morning I did. I'm exactly where you are and I have a tummy that looks "fat" not a bump. Everyone is different.

I hope you get to see your Lo and feel much better! ((hugs))

  • I'm so sorry that you are feeling stressed. I know that it's so hard not to stress over symptoms or lack there of. I just try to remind myself that it is normal for symptoms come and go. If you are really worried, I wouldn't hesitate to call the Dr. to see if you can go in for an U/S for some peace of mind.
  • I think the tough thing about going by symptoms is that everything is potentially totally normal.  Or not normal, depending.  So you will drive yourself crazy/to tears thinking about it.  There really is no answer.  For me, loss of symptoms was not a good sign.  BUT the great majority of women in my BMB who lost symptoms went on to full term pregnancies.

As for the bump, a woman in my office is almost 6 months along and just now showing!

I know how hard it is, believe me.  I'm having my own little freakout this week about loss of symptoms.  Big hugs to you.  And like the other ladies said, call your doctor for a little peace of mind!

Thanks everyone... DH is trying get me to leave work and go up to my doctors office.  I bought a doppler and it will be waiting for me at home when I get there, but I feel like it could be my best friend or worst enemy.  This is the most hopeless I've ever felt about pregnancy.
  • Call your Dr.  and see if you can come in to look for a HB (preferably with an u/s, as you are still early to hear on a doppler).  You have a history of loss, and you lost symptoms then, so I can't see why your Dr. would say no, and it certainly can't hurt to ask.

Also in the way of showing, you look to be a tiny little thing, so you probably won't show for quite some time, and most of the girls on  your BMB are probably showing you bloat.

I know, this is LO #2 (I have a 5 yo DD), so I feel like I should be showing... you're SUPPOSED to show with your 2nd early.

My next appt is next Thursday.

  • BSN!!  Hey lady!!  I've thought about you lately and wondered if you got your BFP when you started TTC again.  I stopped going to TTCAL because of the rampant error messages. But it is great to run in to you here - I'm just sorry to hear you're feeling sad and so worried!!

I agree with the others that 10w is very early to see a bump, and many of the women who have one at that point is more likely due to bloat than baby.  (not that there's anything wrong with bloat)

I think that is great that you got a doppler.  I had one when I was pregnant with DS (because I'd had a prior m/c) and it was my savior.  I would have been a wreck without it and never had to worry about lack of movements, symptoms etc once I had it. If you don't want to go to the doctor, could you at least go home and try your doppler, so that you're not in anguish for the rest of the day?

Also keep in mind that the timing is also likely to make you more nervous.  You will be in my prayers hun, please update us!!

  • FWIW, with my sons pregnancy the minimal 1st Tri symptoms I had dropped off dramatically at 9 weeks and had vanished pretty much completely at 10 weeks.  I was nervous, too (especially since I'd not yet seen his hb), but he's fine...and waking up from his nap now.

I completely understand the worry, but please know that its pretty normal for symptoms to drop off around where you're at as the placenta takes over.

  • You sound just like me yesterday.  I'm a little over 9 weeks and my symptoms are pretty much gone.  I convinced myself I was having a m/c so I called the dr. and told them that.  They let me come in for a quick ultrasound and I got to see the baby and hear the HB.  As far as the symptoms I was told to "be greatful!".  So that's what I'll do.

Also, I had "lost" my symptoms right before Mother's Day and was again, convinced things were bad.  Then I ended up throwing up in the restaurant bathroom at Mother's Day brunch.  So!  I'd hang in there, call your Dr. if you want an u/s for peace of mind.  My $30 copay was worth hearing that little heartbeat.

  • I haven't seen the "bump" thread on December, but no one should have a real bump yet. It's all just bloat.

I've had 5 u/s so far (3 with a heartbeat) with the most recent being on Friday. Symptoms come and go, and some don't even get symptoms. Symptoms don't tell you how your baby is doing.

  • Hi Bsn,

My symptoms are all over the place and it's driving me slowly insane. I would pay crazy amounts of money to buy an ultrasound that I could just watch all day, I'm starting to drive myself crazy. I ordered a doppler that has now been lost in the mail which is also driving me slowly insane.

This really isn't helpful at all. I do agree with you on our BMB, I find it pretty hard to take most days and am definitely more of a lurker, it's really rare that I post. I think I'm just going to start hanging out here instead.

I hope you get your doppler or get in to see your doctor soon and get some reassurance.

I'm on your BMB and I think it is hard to be there after a loss. Or probably any board full of people who have never had one, really. I have been feeling the same way as you and just don't really feel pregnant. I am trying not to focus on it as much as I can (which is practically impossible) and remember that I can't really change anything. I just keep praying and hoping the 2+ weeks until my next appointment go quickly.

  • (((Hugs))) I know its hard. I had a meltdown last week. I have very few symptoms and then my boobs stopped being sore (my one and only consistent symptom) and I freaked. Everyone says weeks 8-9 can be rough, but I've had things easy. I have come to the conclusion that there will be plenty of time to worry and grieve if I do in fact lose my baby but right now I am pregnant and happy. Definitely call your doctor for an appt. I have one on  Friday and they were more than happy to give my another u/s to check on things.  FWIW, several women lose their symptoms around 10 weeks as the placenta begins to take over. Hang in there hun, its a long journey but you will get through it.
