I remember there being a few posts recommending DSLRs. Anyone have the links? Or a rec? I'm thinking of sticking to Canon, since that's what we've both liked before.
I'm planning to surprise DH for Father's Day.

Re: DSLR Recs? Anyone have the link to the previous posts?
We have a Canon Rebel T3i. I'm very happy with it.
This is the only link I have saved regarding cameras
On the Photography board, they have a FAQs link at the top where they recommend their cameras. I looked there and found it very helpful without having to actually ask them when I was researching mine.
FWIW, I just bought a Canon Rebel T2i. I've only had it for a few days, but a friend of ours who does photography said mine has more stuff than his $1500 Nikon.
I have one of the original Canon Digital Rebels (8MP - it's OLD!!!), so I can't recommend any of the newer ones, but I definitely recommend Canon. All of my SLRs have been Canon. Film, digital, doesn't matter, I have always used Canon.
One recommendation is that if you have the ability - consider getting a 50mm 1.8f lens instead of the kit lens. The kit lens is fine, but if you're taking pictures indoors, low-light, etc. you'll want a lens that "opens up more", meaning it lets more light in. The kit lens doesn't open up as much as the 50mm 1.8.

Thanks! My neighbor is a pro surfing photographer and she also recc'd the T3i. She's more of an outdoor, action photographer, so having the 50mm 1.8 lens would be great for us and not as much for her.
Now it's time to shop around and find the best deal.
