Wow - so I am so overwhelmed by this process! I am a 1st time mom, new to atlanta, and thought i would go with a nanny for my choice of child care... until i started calculating things and running numbers! Now, I have a baby due in 12 weeks and I am starting this process. I live in town and would love to know recs - not from websites - but from people! Does anyone have any personal recommendations for infant care programs? I have called a few places and there are significant waiting lists... any recommendations would be appreciated!
Re: infant care programs
We go to Suzuki School - Northside campus and love it. But I'm pretty sure they have a huge wait list. It took us almost a year to get ds2 in and he was on the sibling wait list since ds1 started there before him. I had to already put ds3 on the waitlist for next summer when he'll start at 12months old.
You might try to find an inhome daycare in your area of town. That's what we used for ds1 until he was 2yo when he switched to suzuki. It was nice when he was an infant and needed that more personalized attention but wasn't' as expensive as a nanny.
Thank you! I have looked at both -and Suzuki school has about a 1 year wait list.. so want to be thinking about it for the future... possibly attending the parent tea next month so very happy to hear this!
Have wanted to know more about Chastain school... this is at the top of my list right now. Really really really glad to hear that you think so highly of it!
My boys have done great at suzuki and both love it. DS2 was home with me until he got in back in january. I was so afraid for the transition but he did remarkable well and it's all due to his awesome teachers. I'm so sad he's moving up next week. With Ds1, his teachers have gone above and beyond for him. He has a speech delay and they have helped him so much over the last year that he's almost caught up to his peers with his speech. We've actually stopped thearpy until august and then re-evluating. I definitely attribute a lot of this to his teachers.
It is easier to get in once your child is 2 and in pre-primary. Level 1 and 2 at northside only have 1 classroom but pre-primary has 3 and primary has 2 so they take more kids once you get to that level. I will say if you like it go ahead and get on the wait list b/c families do drop out for various reasons. The hard part is I know a lot of current student mommies are pregnant. There are 5 of us in ds1's classroom that are pregnant and due this summer. It's crazy.
Wow! Well I think attending the parent tea is a great option then for now... So I can go ahead and register for next year. Thank u for the insight!
Sent you a PM! :-)
