I just dont get ppl sometimes....

Sorry for those bumpies who have already seen this on my FB, but Its just really bothering me and need to vent it here too

So, DH is a police officer for Columbus Ohio and today he sent me a txt message saying He was going to be getting off work late b/c he had to take a 12 day old (Yes, I said DAY) baby to children services. He ended up calling me and telling me that the baby was in Temp. custody with another couple, but that couple let the mother stay there. Mom came home today and decided she wanted to take the baby to children services. The couple said they cant do it right that second, that they need to call CS and give them a heads up and let them know everything thats going on (I guess mom has some issues/mental problems or something). Well mom was not happy with that and ended up throwing a phone at the lady with custody of child (while she had baby in arms). The couple got the mom out of teh house and locked her out while she went CRAZY on them. MH said he even broke a window to the house. DH and some other officers get there and get everyone settled down thankfully. Well DH was the one to take the baby to Children Services. He said the baby was getting lots and lots of attention. Well Duh, what 12do baby wouldn't.
I just dont get how ppl can do this to their kids. She also has a 1yo which is in temp custody with someone else. Why cant ppl just see how blessed they are to have a child(ren). I guess its a good thing she gave him up... Maybe now the baby will have a decent life. But it just broke my heart a little. I told DH to bring the baby home instead of taking him to CS, but he didn't.LOL!

Wow. Seriously. I'm flabbergasted. I feel this way at times when my peds patients are day old babies who's parents are too worried about smoking etc to make sure their babies eat regularly etc.
Some people just. don't. realize. how lucky they are to have those babies.

I understand your sentiment completely. I have alot of extended family that are currently monitored by CAS (some have their kids, some don't). It made me upset before and now it just p!sses me off. All these twits get their babies and I didn't. I just want to scoop them up and take care of the kids.

Ive seen so many disturbing things done to kids in the last few weeks i just cant take it. A friend of mine said today "any butt wielding ahole can be a parent".

I am sorry, Holly. It's a specific application of the world's basic question: why does evil exist? The answer is that we live in a fallen and therefore unfair world, but that answer feels very hollow and philosophical when you are watching a child suffer. It's not okay, and it's not fair. One day, you'll have your own rainbow baby, and you will make a difference for that child. And, your DH made a difference today. It's all we can do really. I am just sorry. That sucks majorly. ((hugs))

I feel like I heard about all kinds of people that were just outside my circle of knowledge (people friends knew) that mistreated kids or got their kids taken away by CPS. I'm with you and just can't understand why people treat children that way, or if they know they can't or won't take care of them, why continue to be so careless and keep reproducing?!
