Help please!!

I went back to work yesterday and DS won't eat. He's EBF and will not latch on to a bottle. He's never really liked bottles and it's always been a struggle to get him to latch on, but eventually he did. Now he's barely latching on and barely eating. We have tried every trick I can think of...we've tried 5 different bottles, her having my shirt with my smell on it, she's fed him sitting, standing, holding him, not holding him, and nothing is working. He barely latches and today only took 3 1/2oz in 9 hours. I just hate that he's hungry and I can't help him. I know we've probably tried other things but I can't remember now. I need him to latch on. I even tried giving him the bottle when I got there today in case it was just because I wasn't there, and he wouldn't take it. Please help! Any ideas?

First off I am so sorry that your LO is having a tough time. If he wont take a bottle please try to cup, spoon, or finger feed him. Yes it is a lot of work but you don't want him to go so long without eating.

Having anything that reminds her of you is probably going to back fire. Swaddling may help if you haven't tried that. They also need to start trying to feed her before she is really hungry. If she's giving very clear hunger cues, they're starting too late! I agree that if she downright refuses, a small cup is probably your best option. (Think the little medicine cups that come with children's liquid medicine.) Finger feeding is another option they could try, although that could take equipment that you don't have currently.

One of my friends never was able to get her baby to take the bottle. Her mom would kind of squirt 2 oz in her the morning, bring her to her at lunch and just eat every 2 hours in the evening when she off. I think she started taking milk out of a sippy around 5-6 months. Good Luck. The only bottles that work for us is dr browns
