TTC after 35

I should know this but can you clarify?

Hi all!  Today (Tues) is CD1.  I have a standing order at my lab for the 3 day FSH test, etc.  I have my 1st appt with an RE on Friday.  I was planning to get the blood drawn at my appt but that will be too late right?  The tests have to be done ON CD3 or is there a range of days to get it done?

Re: I should know this but can you clarify?

  • Check with your RE.  Some will only accept CD-3 and others will accept 3-5

  • My experience is that you can get FSH checked on CD2 or 3.  CD4-5 is too late in my opinion to be helpful.

Thanks for clarifying.  I meant to say 2-4 not 3-5.  It has been a long week.

Yay, llama!  Check with your RE, but I would say it is probably worth going on day 3, if you can at all swing it.  Don't lose your momentum, girl!

I am TRYING not to back out of this thing all together.. Over the past 3 days I have picked up the phone to cancel twice and then stopped myself.  I keep going back and forth in my head about things that are "meant to be" (or not meant to be) are that way for a reason.  UGH I hate being so wishy washy.   But I am going...even if it is to just find out why it will never happen.

  • Add me to the chorus of people urging you to go. You'll feel so much better when you get more information.

Please don't wait until CD4. That's just asking for trouble.

  • One more pep talk:

You ARE going to go. To all your appointments. Your DH did not get his SA done for naught! You can go back and forth about what's meant to be, but REs were not invented by the devil to mess with your cosmic juju-- it can be meant to be that you need a little assistance.

My 3 cousins are all Clomid babies. And they're pretty dang cool. The world is definitely a better place because they're in it.

This will hold true for your babies.

Not to mention, I have a free plane ticket to anywhere in the country. If you back out of your RE appointment(s), I'll fly out and kick you in the shins and drag you there myself. (With all very lovingly of course.)
