Hi guys, I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I stalked a little and searched but couldn't find anything.
I am looking for a heart rate monitor for when I run. I wanted to start again, slowly of course. I was a big runner before I got pregnant then in November I slowed down because I was doing a lot of home repairs and then I got pregnant. Since the weather is finally decent I wanted to get out again and start back up but I know I need to keep my heart rate low and stable.
Does anyone have any good suggestions for heart rate monitors that they use while working out/running?
Re: Heart Rate Monitors?
As long as you ran before you dont have to stress to much about it. My doctor said I can do whatever I was doing pre pregnancy. If you try to go by the old 140 bpm guideline you will go crazy and not get a good workout. I am still working out I quit running about 5 weeks ago it got uncomfortable and I listened to my body. I switched to elipitcal and step mill. Which I have been doing step mill all along. I also love spin class!
Back to your question I have this heart rate mointor and love it!!!

Easy to use and gives you how many calories you burn. I got mine at Academy not sure if you have one where you are at.
Thanks for the advice!
Everyone tells me different things about working out, most of it is old school and from my MIL and coworkers but my Dr's hasn't said to tone it down or any guidelines.
I was checking that one out. I don't have an Academy so I'll probably just get it off Amazon.
Thanks again!

My HRM is a Polar 120 but they don't make 'em anymore. Polar is a great brand for you to check out.
I've been running while pg and actually did two 5k races -- the last one was on Mother's Day. With my 1st pregnancy 4 yrs ago, my doc recommended that I keep my HR below 165 which is certainly reasonable. With my 2nd (currently) the same doc just says to be reasonable and that the idea is just that your core temp stays in check. So, on super hot days, be careful. Still, I've been keeping my HR around 155-160-ish and that seems to be fine. (in the race situation, I did get up to 180 briefly at the end, but it's no big deal because it wasn't long enough to elevate my core temp).
Good luck!
