fabric softener help

i know we aren't supposed to use fabric softener/chemically stuff for LO clothes and blankets etc, but how the heck do you get stuff to be static free???  my swaddle blankets are stuck together like velcro when they come out of the dryer and little socks are stuck to everything!

I have dryer balls and have tried foil balls in the dryer.  Also tried vinegar in the washer rinse cycle...

what else can i try?

Re: fabric softener help

  • If it's just socks and blankets that are the issue, I'd hang them to dry.  It uses less energy, less precious dryer space, and no static.

  • I use the Meyers' all natural fabric softener sheets.  They don't seem to both my DD's sensitive skin and they work great removing static.  The dryer balls never worked for me.

  • wool dryer balls.

    Seriously, magic.

I used Bounce free and clear dryer sheets but they never worked that great, were expensive and a lot of DS's clothes were still staticky (his fleece pajamas, his thin pajamas, a thin cotton shirt I have).  They would be so bad that they literally sparked when I pulled them apart while folding.  Not to mention the weird feeling they left on clothes.

I have 4 wool dryer balls that I got for mother's day.  NO STATIC.  No weird feeling.

    They are amazing.

  • Try not to leave everything in the dryer for so long.  If you pull things out when the are JUST dry or really close to being dry, you really shouldn't have too much static.

  • i'll have to look into wool dryer balls too
  • Ditto the wool dryer balls suggestion.  I just bought a set of 8 a few weeks ago, and they've been great so far.  No static, and the clothes are fairly soft.  I bought these off of etsy: https://www.etsy.com/shop/CleanSypria?page=3.
