I know the rule of thumb is if you're under 30, wait 1 year of TTC, and if over 30, 6 months, before seeing an RE.
However, does that timer start when you start charting? I had my m/c in January, and started charting then. Before then, I was using some app that I would track when we did the BD, and when AF would start and end. From there, it gave me a general idea of when my FW was. This was in Aug '11.
Does that mean we've been TTC for almost 10 months? Or would I have to start over in January? And if Aug is when I should use as a base of when we started TTC, will an RE only take Jan-today seriously because that's when I started charting?
Sorry for so many questions, and TIA! :-)

REs don't really care about charting. It's good to be able to tell them if you are O'ing and any irregularities but they're going to run the same tests anyway. I've had 3 REs over the last 18 months and none even looked at my charts. I've heard that some start the calendar over after any pregnancy (even with a loss) so it's best to just call and ask.
And the cutoff is actually 35, not 30 just so you know. I actually went after 10 months TTC but I don't O and never have a period so we knew there was a problem. My OB did the initial CD3 b/w and HSG for me so that's another option to get things going.
After more than 2 years of fertility treatments, FET did the trick!

If finances factor into your ability to see an RE - check with your insurance. My insurance starts the IF clock over anytime you get pregnant (regardless of the outcome). "Thankfully" I qualified for coverage under RPL. But even though we had been trying for #2 for over a year did NOT qualify for any coverage under an IF diagnosis - because in the interpretation of my insurance policy - being under the age of 35 with conception occurring in the previous12 month period disqualified me for "IF."
I thought it was 35 too! I actually had that in my post originally, but edited when I looked at the site for an RE in my area that indicated 30, haha.

That's what made me start wondering when my clock started - I was looking at my insurance (HAP), and this is what it says:
Infertility Services: Covered (Services for diagnosis, counseling, and treatment of anatomical disorders causing infertility in accordance with HAP's benefit, referral and practice policies.)
Assisted Reproduction Technologies: Covered (One attempt of artificial insemination per lifetime.) *I'll be saving this baby for a rainy day!

The Great Sperm Race, besides this board, has taught me this. I made DH watch this with me :-)

Frankly, I think you're reaching a bit with the need for an RE at this point. It took you four months (if I'm reading your post right - August to December) to conceive the first time and it's only been five months TTC again since your loss.
Neither of those lengths of time indicate any abnormality.
Edited - I just realized you've got five months of normal charts. Chill out. Impatience is not a fertility issue.
LMAO! Giggle snort!
I was told to see a RE if I don't get pregnant in a year.
Since I got pregnant under my year mark I have to start all over for another year ... that is what I was told.

You should definitely check with your insurance. My insurance says a sucessful pregnancy with in a year (under 35)...
