3rd Trimester

Anyway to increase amniotic fluid/

I am just wondering if there is any way to increase amniotic fluid?  I am 32 1/2 weeks and my level is at 10.  My dr was not worried but I am.  With my 3rd baby the levels just kept going down weekly so I think it's headed that way again.  I would appreciate any info.

 Thanks Karen

  • Stay hydrated! The best thing you can do is drink lots and lots and lots of water and avoid dehydrating things. If you get a low fluid level go drink a BUNCH of water and see if they'll recheck for you in a few hours.

  • Mine was low at 20 wks. I drank a ton! And not just water. I did soups, drank gatorade, soda, juice. I switched to bottled water (I usually think its a waste) because it was easiest to track my intake. I do 3-4 bottles a day. I dont leave the house without water. Im kind of a spaz about it now.

  • I drank a lot of water while I was on hospital bedrest for most of April.  It was like a swimming pool when my water was finally broken.  It was an all nighter for me to get completely dialated, and it was like I kept dripping amniotic fluid everywhere in my labor and delivery room.

  • Its been previously said, but drinking lots of water will help. It might not increase it per say but it will help prevent more loss. I'm sure if your doctor isn't worried then you have enough.

Just stay hydrated and avoid things like soda and overly sugary juices.

  • A level of 10 is normal. Stay hydrated, that is all you can do. The placenta regulates fluid levels so much of this is out of your control. Good luck!
  • Thanks everyone!!
