Lupron

For those of you who have been on lupron, were you told to keep it cold? I was told to today and I didn't think of it until we left, but I am traveling out of state this weekend with my mom, who knows nothing of our IVF.

I have a plan to travel with it cold, but I'm not too sure about putting it in the refrigerator at my aunt's house for so many reasons. Any idea if not keeping it cold will ruin it?

Re: Lupron

  • No, i was only told to keep it cold if i planned on giving it to anyone after i was done.
  • I used Lupron for IVF #1 and I was told to refrigerate it after opening. I know that really doesn't help you and I have heard other ladies that have had Lupron that did not need to be refrigerated. Is it possible you could call the pharmacy to ask them. Safe travels and good luck!

  • I'm on my third cycle with Lupron - I've never refigerated it.  That said, I've heard there are varieties that say you need to refrigerate, and those varieties note that on the bottle.

We were told to keep it cold. On our trip to chicago I packed a little cooler and just kept it sealed up in there. It was fine and stayed cold. I added some ice to the ziplocks to keep it from warming up.

Maybe you can do a similar trick at your aunt's?

  • I used Lupron last IVF cycle and never kept it cold....always room temp. We traveled to Orlando and I just packed it in a little lunch tote to travel with. I would call the pharmacist and ask them. Safe travels!

I checked the box and the bottle and both say to keep under 77 degrees, but I called my nurse again and she said definitely keep it cool, so I guess I'll have to hide it.
