I'm sorry, that stinks.  I have my test tomorrow, so I will find out if I join the GBS positive club.  Silly me, I thought because I didn't have it last time, I wouldn't have it or be tested this time.

Yeah, I didn't have it with my first. My doctor tells me it's nothing to worry about, it's just bacteria, but now I feel all dirty, like I did something wrong, to get this. I'm clean, maybe too clean @ times. A little OCD, really.

Absolutely NOTHING you can do about this one.  Your doctor is right.  It does make you feel bad, but it's very common.  A friend of mine was positive, but gave birth 13 minutes after arriving at the hospital so they didn't have time to get an IV in and her baby was fine.  Regardless, it just means you will have to have an IV and try to get to the hospital sooner.

I had it the first time around with DD and it was uneventful -- i didn't have any issues with the IV. Obviously, it's nice to not have to have the antibiotics, but regardless, it's nothing to worry about.  As for the PP who commented about being "dirty"... umm you should educate yourself more about these things.  The bacteria is found in 50% of most healthy women. Just like yeast infections, some people are more prone to an imbalance, i hope you don't think these women are "dirty" also.

Pretty sure that was the OP stating that now she "feels" dirty, like she did something wrong.  I responded reiterating what her doctor said that it was nothing she did or anything about being dirty.  No snark here, just clearing that up .

I had it with my first, didn't have it last time, and have it again this time.  It really isn't a big deal if you're already getting an IV anyways.

Yep, me too. First time in 3 pregnancies  

I know it's not a big deal in the end, but when planning for my 3rd med-free birth at a birth center, I'm not looking forward to needing an IV for some of it.
