TTC After a Loss

Very light Period after M/C

Hey Ladies,

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine was really nice, I was super excited to have AF come for a visit. This will be the first one since my most recent m/c.  Now however I am worrying that it might not be AF.  My m/c started in the beginnig of April, I bleed for almost four weeks and basically stopped around the end of April.  On Saturday I noticed I was spotting really dark blood for a day then Sunday I had what appeared to be a normal period and today its barely there.  My doctor told me to call when it showed so we could start some testing. I am waiting to hear back from him but I wanted to see if anyone else experienced a very short light first period. I have most heard it go the other way very long and heavy.

Also, I havent really had any cramps or anything like I normally do. I just am really hoping it picks back up. I was so excited to think my body was getting back on track again so quickly this time.

Thanks for any input.

Re: Very light Period after M/C

  • After my third loss, the first two AFs were super light. After my first loss, I thought I was going to bleed out it was so heavy! So, I've experienced both. It can go either way.

    TTC since April 2010

    BFP #2 – October 2011, m/c November 2011
Surprise BFP #3 – December 2011, diagnosed as cornual, terminated January 2012
    BFP #4 – June 2012, m/c July 2012
Diagnosed with bicornuate ute and MTHR gene mutation
    BFP #5 – October 2012, missed m/c November 2012
    BFP #6 – January 2013, m/c March 2013
No longer TTC. Diagnosis: Hostile ute. Heartbroken and bitter. Pursuing surrogacy.
June 2013 - Carrier found! Could this really happen?!

My first period in January after my December loss was lighter and shorter than I was expecting, but I can't remember the exact details.  I just remember that I had been prepared for it to be heavier than normal after some things I read, so it stood out for actually being lighter than I expected.  My next period in February was heavier but still lighter and shorter than I had been expecting.

I think if you had stopped bleeding from your m/c four weeks prior that this can be counted as AF, but defer to those here who may know more than I do.

Looks like were going through the same thing at the moment. Thanks so much for everyones input. Its good to know it just not me.  Im going for blood work on CD21 hopefully it will be good news and we can start TTC after next month.

  • I've had a few AFs that were so light I actually called me RE and said 'I THINK I started my period' Embarrassed  I felt kind of stupid, but sure enough with evidence on the u/s I had started because my lining was thin.  It never got bright red, just heavy dark red spotting.
