I've been using the Ecos deteregent for a while now and have been happy for the most part. But, our clothes never smell "fresh" when they come out of the dryer. I don't use dryer sheets because I've heard they're bad for the dryer. And the ECOS is supposed to have a coconut based fabric softener in it already. I can put clean sheets in the linen closet and go back a couple weeks later to use them, and they don't even smell clean - in fact, they almost smell musty.
Anyone else have this problem?
I have HE front loaders if that makes any difference...??
Re: If you use Ecos detergent
The "clean" smell is likely from fragrances you were used to in other detergents. I've been using ECOS for nearly three years and find that the lack of scent is awesome. I also found that I needed to wash clothing, towels, etc. more quickly once dirty to prevent icky smells and buildup. This was especially present on things like towels, gym clothes and DH's work shirts.
If you try the lavender scented ECOS, it does still smell like lavender when it comes out of the wash. I bought a bottle recently when my local store was out of scentless and totally noticed the lavender after the first few washes.
You can also try using wool dryer balls with a few drops of an essential oil on them to give a "fresh" scent.
