Hi! I posted this on the 0-3 mo. board as well...
I am specifically
looking for Mamas who use their Ergos without the
newborn insert for their LOs that have less head control. Our guy gets
easily overheated so we can't use the infant insert anymore
I am curious
about what the ideal position for smaller babies supposed to look like,
so that I can make sure I have him in a position that is good for his
spine and one that he will enjoy being in.
Re: Post photos of your newborn in the Ergo here!
I don't have pictures because we don't use the Ergo with our infants, just when they get older. However, here's a good rule of thumb for any carrier: Hold your baby in a position that feels natural and comfortable for you and baby, then put the carrier on over that to support that position.
Obviously with some carriers you can't just put them on over the top while holding the baby, but the theory is still good. In the Ergo I'd hold baby on your chest with their legs froggied up and chest to chest. Then I'd bring the flap up over the baby and hope that there was enough head support (the hood doesn't help much at that age).
This is how I use my BabyHawk with my 6lb10oz LO, and it works fine for us!
Look! I put the diaper on the baby!
