DS screams when left alone

Recently DS has started screaming bloody murder the second he can't see me. Usually as soon as I walk back into his line of sight he stops instantly and is fine, sometimes I have to pick him up and soothe him for a second. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this? It just started all of a sudden.

BTW, I never go far from him and usually I can still see him, but he just can't see me

Re: DS screams when left alone

  • My DS does that sometimes when he's super cranky. I try to keep him occupied so I can do a few things around the house. I give a small piece of a Baby Mum Mum cracker which completely occupies him for a couple minutes. It's a hit and miss, or I put on music for a background with a couple toys. Good luck!

  • DD does this when she is in one of her moods. Unfortunatly it's time for seperation anxiety to start popping up for our LO's. I'm not looking forward to it...

  • DD does this if she is left alone and gets bored. She calms herself down after a few seconds when she realizes she has toys all around her. Sometimes you just have to do something (bathroom, shower, switch the laundry from washer to dryer, etc). They will be okay. Just surround them with toys before you take off to do something. There is a fine line between this and separation anxiety...

DS does that sometimes, so I just keep talking to him while he can't see me.

  • Yes!  Last night I laid DD on the floor in her room, with some toys, to take her sheets off and throw in her laundry.  The laundry room is literally across the hall from her room, but she couldn't see me and freaked out.  It's started happening more and more, and it's not just me, it's me or DH.  If she can't see anyone, she starts crying.  I think it just comes with this age, they're more aware of their surroundings and wanting mommy and daddy around.

  • I was reading that around 6 months is when separation anxiety can start. Luckily (knock on wood) DS doesn't seem to care where I am unless he's in the room with unfamiliar people. Then he constantly searches to make sure I or DH is near by.
