TTC After a Loss

Ectopic Questions

I'm hanging in ectopic limbo.  We discovered in on Weds (5/16) and my hcg numbers have been dropping steadily since.  Friday was 435. I have my blood drawn again tomorrow.  If they're still dropping we'll keep monitoring, if not we'll discuss MTX.

Wondering: Has anyone here resolved an ectopic w/o meds?  How long did it take?  If you had MTX, how long did it take to resolve?

I'm sorry that you're going through this. I haven't had an ectopic that resolved itself, all of mine have been treat surgically or medically. The methotrexate is the best resolution and starts to work in a couple of days. It may or may not take a few weeks for your hcg to get back to 0.
    3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets
Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13

  • When I had my ectopic, my RE caught it early enough we were able to do surgery and remove it from my tube to save it from rupturing.  He gave me the choice of surgery or methotrexate, but I chose surgery (which is what he recommended) so my doctor could also get a clear picture of what he would be working with to get me pregnant!

  • I didn't have an ectopic, but I had MTX. For me, the MTX started working within a few days. At one week, my HCG had dropped from 4500 to 1300. BUT, at 8 weeks, it was still not 0 (it was 12). So it's taking a looong time to get back to 0.

Also, we have to TTA for 3 months after MTX.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

  • I'm currently dealing with an ectopic. I had MTX, I had to have 2 doses, but HCG was extremely high. SO I don't really have an advice to give on an ectopic resolving itself without medication, I wasn't given that option, considering how high my levels were, and that the baby was developing quite rapidly.
